Well, I had to look it up...gotta look everything up, you know, or it's prone to Carole's bad memory that they fuss at me or groan about on all the rootsweb lists...but I DID look this one up...<G> Short answer: Michael and Sarah. Long answer: Col. Michael Young was born Jan 16, 1797, in Screven County, GA. (William Young and Mary Henderson Young Bible Record). He died on August 24, 1856, in Thomas County, GA. Michael's will was probated in Thomas County, GA. His legatees were his wife, SARAH EVERETT, and his children, JAMES E., WILLIAM J., REMER, THOMAS J., MICHAEL, AMERICA MacINTYRE, MARY J. McELVEN (afterwards AVERA), and SARAH L. YOUNG (afterwards LINTON). Michael moved to Thomas County, GA in 1828, where he lived until his death. He served as State Senator from Thomas County in 1830. In July, 1836, Michael was elected to take command of a battalion of troops formed from Captain Newman's Company of Thomasville and Captain Pike's Company from Lowndes County. They engaged and defeated the remnants of a group of Creek Indians, led by Jim Henry, near the forks of Big Warrior Creek and Little Creek. 1850-The 1850 Census listed Michael Young, aged 53, farmer; his wife, Sarah, aged 50; Jane, aged 19; Thomas, aged 17, farmer; John, aged 16, farmer; Sarah, aged 13; and Michael, aged 11. He was married to SARAH EVERITT (daughter of Joshua EVERITT and JANE CARTER) on March 25, 1819, in Bulloch County, GA. Ceremony was performed by Enoch Fagan, J. P. SARAH EVERIT was born on April 7, 1799, in Bulloch County, GA. She died on April 15, 1876, in Thomas County, GA. The Wednesday, April 19, 1876, issue of the "Southern Enterprise" reported the death of Mrs. Sarah Young, widow of Colonel Mike Young. Sarah was returning to town, from her place in the country, in a buggy. The horse became frightened and ran off throwing her from the buggy. She died Saturday morning at one o'clock. She was seventy-seven years old. Col. Michael Young and Sarah Everitt had the following children: -JAMES EVERITT YOUNG, born March 20, 1821. -AMERICA YOUNG, born April 29, 1823. -REMER YOUNG, born on May 5, 1826. -WILLIAM JOSHUA YOUNG, born on October 18, 1828. -MARY JANE YOUNG, born September 29, 1830. -THOMAS JONES YOUNG, born October 6, 1832. -JOHN CARTER YOUNG, born July 18, 1835. He died on June 24, 1853, in LaGrange, Troup County, GA. Died single while a student at school. -SARAH E. YOUNG, born December 17, 1837. -MICHAEL HENDERSON YOUNG, born June 13, 1840. -DAVID YOUNG, born June 11, 1842. He died on September 10, 1844. Now the funny thing is that James E. Young seems to have married his first cousin, a daughter of his uncle and aunt, JAMES YOUNG and LAVINIA JONES. My chart shows the child of James and Lavinia Jones Young, named LAVINIA YOUNG, married JAMES E. YOUNG, son of Michael and Sarah. Is that what you have? I'll look it up in "The Young Family of GA" and if any different, mail you back. c ----- Original Message ----- From: James A. Carole, I have a quick question that's been hounding me for eons...and I would appreciate your help/expertise! I hope (from your records) you can help me. Don't worry if you can't answer it...I haven't been able to do it for months now. ;(( I would be very happy to know..who are the parents of James Everett Young (1821-1874). I've seen two different possibilities..and found just about as much weight on one as the other!!! Are the parents James Young and Lavinia Young OR is it Michael Young and Sarah Carter Everett??? [I'm sure for most folks, the Everett in Sarah's name is a giveaway]?? I would just like to have it right!! Right now, he's sitting on the doorstep of James and Lavinia ;)) Thanks cuz' Jimmy
