Al, Sorry I don't have any information on your Brown/Sims line. However, I was adding some recent Murray information to my genealogy file, and I noticed the name Alfred Al Chassereau listed as the great grandson of Janie Ann Murray m. John Maloney Strickland. I recognized your name from the lists serve and I was wondering if this is indeed you? If so, we have a connection through the Murray's. Let me know, OK? Thanks, Deb
My GG-Grandmother was Martha Brown, born about 1808 in Bulloch County, Georgia, probably in the Briarpath District. She married Jacob Sims, probably his second wife, and lived in Bryan County. She died abt. 1880 in Bryan County and probably buried in Clyde Cemetery. Children were Elbert, Selena, Mahulda, Lewis, Clinton and Johanna Sims. Who were her parents? Was it William M. Brown, Sr., RS as reported by older relatives? (Not documented) Any information or leads sincerely appreciated. Al Chassereau

I found this so touching....just had to share with the Bulloch List Serve. Someone wrote in later that: The talented author of the... poem "The Census Taker" is Darlene Stevens of Spokane, Washington. :-) Deb ________________________________________________________ This was passed from another list I am on.... (very good reading) CENSUS TAKER It was the first day of census, and all through the land; The pollster was ready ... a black book in hand. He mounted his horse for a long dusty ride; His book and some quills were tucked close by his side. A long winding ride down a road barely there; Toward the smell of fresh bread wafting, up through the air. The woman was tired, with lines on her face; And wisps of brown hair she tucked back into place. She gave him some water ... as they sat at the table; And she answered his questions ... the best she was able. He asked of her children... Yes, she had quite a few; The oldest was twenty, the youngest not two. She held up a toddler with cheeks round and red; his sister, she whispered, was napping in bed. She noted each person who lived there with pride; And she felt the faint stirrings of the wee one inside. He noted the sex, the color, the age... The marks from the quill soon filled up the page. At the number of children, she nodded her head; And saw her lips quiver for the three that were dead. The places of birth she "never forgot"; Was it Kansas? or Utah? or Oregon ... or not? They came from Scotland, of that she was clear; But she wasn't quite sure just how long they'd been here. They spoke of employment, of schooling and such; They could read some .and write some .. though really not much. When the questions were answered, his job there was done; So he mounted his horse and he rode toward the sun. We can almost imagine his voice loud and clear; "May God bless you all for another ten years." Now picture a time warp ... its' now you and me; As we search for the people on our family tree. We squint at the census and scroll down so slow; As we search for that entry from long, long ago. Could they only imagine on that long ago day; That the entries they made would effect us this way? If they knew, would they wonder at the yearning we feel; And the searching that makes them so increasingly real. We can hear if we listen the words they impart; Through their blood in our veins and their voice in our heart. Author Unknown
William Bland William Bland and Susannah were married in North Carolina and moved to Bulloch County, Ga., probably in 1816, when their eldest, and at the time their only child, Jemima, was a baby. They became members of old Parrish Church, Primitive Baptist. The church building was destroyed by fire and the congregation built a new house of worship about two miles distant which is now known as "Upper Lott's Creek Church." There is a large and well kept cemetery on the grounds and it is here that William and Susannah were buried. I am also interest in the Brannen Cemetery Can anyone give me directions to these cemeteries coming from Millen, GA south on Highway 25?

I am looking for the family of a woman named "S. Telulah DAVIS." According to the International Genealogical Index, she married my GGGrandfather, Adin Benjamin STANSELL (b. Sep 1874 in NC) in Bulloch Co., GA on 30 Dec 1896. I believe she and Adin had one child, a girl named Iris Faye Stansell who was born abt 1899 near Tampa, FL. I find no record of Telulah with Adin in the 1900 or 1910 census, so I'm guessing they either divorced or she died. Does anyone have information on Davis families from about 1870 to 1900? Any help appreciated. Regards, Brian Geiger [email protected]
