Opelika-Auburn Daily News Opelika, Alabama December 20, 2000 EIise Dorsey Tippett Obituary Funeral services for Elise Dorsey Tippett, 93, of Opelika will be Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at 11 a.m. EST at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel in Macon, Ga., with Dr. Tom Tippett officiating. Entombment will follow at Macon Memorial Park. Mrs. Tippett, who passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Wesley Terrace Retirement Center, Auburn, was born Aug. 14, 1907, in Wilcox County, Ga. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah, Ga. Mrs. Tippett completed her college degree at the Teachers College of Georgia in Milledgeville, Ga. She was a teacher for many years in Georgia prior to being the administrator of Calvary Day School in Savannah. Above all, she was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. John Tippett of Opelika; two sons, Dr. Tom (Suzanne) Tippett of Opelika and Dr. Jim (Jane) Tippett of Augusta, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Hester Maginnis of Birmingham, Emmie Sellers of Newnan, Ga., Dorsey Tippett of Opelika; John Tippett and Dorothy Tippett of Augusta, Ga. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church at Opelika, Post Office Box 1822, Opelika, Alabama 36803-1822.
