In 1918, 3 children died. I think there was an epidemic, maybe influenza.My father-in-law was Joseph Ward Hurst b. 11-20-14 in Quitman. At the age of 4-5 he was sent to live with his older sister(Nancy) to live. He ran away at age 14 and became a hobo (railroad bum).James and Kate's childrens names were: Nancy Elizabeth, Charles Felix, William Henry, James Matthew, Thomas Preston, Sallie Mahala, Horrance Edward, Vinnie Lou, Susie Lee, Arthur, Ollie May, Joseph Ward.
