Malachi is a family name of 'my' Jones line. My particular line was in Franklin Co, GA and Spartanburg, SC in c1780-1810. My ancestress, Hester Jones, had the following siblings(born in 1760-1775 timeframe): John Hunter, Malachi, Hiram, Mary, Ann, Hannah, and Caleb Parry Jones. I am wondering if 'your' Malachi could be a son of one of her brothers. I believe that John Hunter (married Elizabeth Humphries), Malachi (married Susan Morgan), and Caleb Parry (married Nancy Parthenia Lee) all remained in GA, whereas Hester and her husband, Patrick Tyler, migrated on to southern Indiana, after the death of her father, Malachi Jones, in 1805 (Spartanburg Co, SC). Other counties in GA that it is believed some of these families went to were Cherokee, Jackson, and Habersham, and note that Brooks County is a lot further south, but perhaps this next generation may have migrated further south in GA.

She was born in 1878, the daughter of Francis and Elizabeth HILL. She married Elijah Gilbert WILLIAMS and had 3 children. They moved to Georgetown SC, but Gilbert returned to Quitman to start a new family. He ran a small commissary store in Quitman and had a farm on many acres of land, where William Carl HILL lived aftr Gilbert's death. Gilbert was attacked and killed by a man in the street in Quitman, but I am not sure of the year. If you know any of these people or have seen a newspaper account of this murder, please contact me. He was my great grandfather and I desperately wish to find him. I am pretty sure he is buried right there in Quitman. Thank you in advance for all your help.

He was married in Brooks Co GA and lived in near Aucila, FL His father was Henry Allen (1823-1900) and I don't know his mother, we suspect her maiden name to be McMullen.
