Jan. 14, 1941 in Quitman, Brooks Co., GA), was a carpenter, farmer, blacksmith, and Justice of the Peace in the Empress District (1921-1941), and Jane Elizabeth MANNING (b. Feb. 14, 1858, Brooks Co., GA, d. Feb. 19, 1909). He is buried at Hickory Head Baptist Church Cemetery, Brooks Co., GA. She is buried at Lebanon Cemetery, Pavo, Brooks Co., GA. Gillie was the daughter of William BROWN (b. circa 1856 in GA, d. Dec. 4, 1917 of Spanish influenza) and Alice M. SPILLER (b. circa 1873 per 1910 Census, d. Dec. 8, 1917 of Spanish influenza). I have not proven who the parents of John Thomas JONES are, but suspect that it could be the John (Age 53, b. NC) and Emily (Age 32, b. GA) JONES family I found on the 1870 Census, Brooks Co., GA. They had a 12-year-old son, John and 10-year-old son, William. There is also another JONES family on the 1870 Census in Brooks Co., GA. They are: James (40, GA, farmer), Margaret (34, GA, keeping house), Thomas (14, GA, at home), Lavinia (5, GA), and Mary (1, GA). John Thomas JONES m. I also have a record from a Colquitt County Georgia 1880 Census that lists another of the children: Haney, Isam 60 Susan 54 Wife Jordan, Elizabeth 20 Boarder Arthur 2 Son Boarder I have photos of Elizabeth "Bette" Jordan and James "Jim" Jordan taken in approximately 1943. I do not have any records of Bette's marriages if there were any. Jim was married to Mary Elizabeth "Minnie" Thompson in about 1889.
