Washington Memorial Library This library is the main library of the Middle Georgia Regional system and houses a wonderful and extensive collection of genealogical and historical materials with public access. Their specialty is their colonial collection, but the genealogy/history collection takes up the entire first floor. ( I can remember when it was a mere corner of that floor!) GA Baptist Archives Jack Tarver Library Mercer University This library is the home of the special collections for Mercer University and the Georgia Baptist Archives. It includes information and records for institutions from any Baptist denomination in Georgia that has submitted information to the collection, including Southern Baptists, Primitive, Free Will, and many more. Every time I visit this site, I find some thing I had not noticed before. Take a look and see what you find! Searching for your Methodist ancestors This link will take you to a site that will explain exactly which denominations have come together through history to now comprise the United Methodist Church, and how to locate the proper resources for researching you own Methodist or affiliated ancestors. Family History Center The is a local branch of the Family history library that is located in Salt Lake City, Utah and is part of the Latter Day Saints organization. You may visit this center and check their present collection for resources that my help you with your research, or you may check to see if they have materials you can order and use there and or at home. There is some one on duty to assist you, and if you know you are planning to be there at certain time but not exactly when they first open, especially less frequented locations, it is best to phone ahead to be sure some one will remain for your visit if the first part of the open hours are not busy.... it is run by volunteers and they may leave if they have no one to assist. The hours and address here relate to the center in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia. There is a link however, to help you locate a center more convenient to your own location. Georgia State Archives This institution maintains the records and documents that record the decisions of the state government of Georgia. This includes state level records through out Georgia's history. Recently relocated to a new facility just south of Atlanta in Morrow, Georgia, they welcome you to drop by and see what they have to offer you that add to your own family history. NARA - National Archives and Records Administration NARA is the center for the storage and maintenance of national records and documents. there are several regional facilities for NARA in the United states and one of them is conveniently located in Georgia. And it will soon be located with the present new site of the Georgia State Archives. A new records center is also becoming available now and will be located at the Southpark Industrial Park in Ellenwood, Clayton County, Georgia. Check out this site to see what you can find at NARA!
