The cemetery was on land owned by Gladys Stokes and when she died it conveyed to Bobby Stokes (it was behind their house) on Columbus Road in Lizella. My gr gr grandparents (Jesse and Pency Bartlett) are buried there plus my gr gr gr grandparents (Willaim and Nancy Bartlett). There are a number of Penders buried there including my gr gr grandparents (Josiah and Celia Pender). When I last visited the site in Feb 1989, there were still three Indian burial mounds in the cemetery. We really need to do all that we can before the Dec 13th Planning & Zoning Commission meeting to insure that the Woodson Cemetery is saved, identified and maintained from here on.
