The book, "THE HISTORY OF TWIGGS COUNTY" lists Arthur Lucas and Jonas Lucas as listed in the Twiggs County Calvary attached to the 37th Regiment. They are shown as having enlisted on Feb.4, 1836. This was the period of the Creek Indian Wars. This could explain why he died in Alabama since Muscogee Co.,Ga. and Alabama about the state line was a battle ground. I think Jonas was a brother to Arthur and he had other siblings including at least two sisters, one being Lina Lucas also listed in the Twiggs Co.1830 Census. She was born 1810. I also found an Arthur Lucas listed in the Family History Centers records. He was born Nov. 9, 1804 in Macon, Bibb Co.,Ga. I think this maybe the same Arthur Lucas listed later on in the Twiggs census. I would like to know what information you have on this family. This is my brick wall. My Thompsons married into this Lucas family. Other surnames are Knight and Nobles. Hope we can make a connection. Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks, Deborah Thompson Blizzard [email protected]
