Bass died at Gainesville Saturday afternoon where he had gone to recuperate in health, after a lingering illness surrounded by his wife and two grown daughters. His remains were carried to Macon for burial. For a number of years Capt. Bass was a conductor on the Southwestern railroad, afterwards was made agent at this place, and moved to Americus where he lived for several years. From here he was appointed as general manager of the Port Royal road, of the Central system and sometime lived in Augusta. From there he was appointed as Superintendent of the A.P.&L. railroad, which position he filled with credit and distinction. A more affable, polite man than Capt. Bass never lived. Kind and courteous to all, with malice toward none, he made friends wherever he was known. But he has passed away and leaves behind a record of which any man might justly be proud File at: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/bibb/obits/b/ob6050bass.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb

    2. Hi, Kirby ~ I have transcribed some of the graves in the Central Avenue District at Rose Hill, and your requests happen to be among them. Here's what I have: Rebecca J. Barrow Wife of Peyton W. Jones Mch 8, 1852 Dec 7, 1925 Peyton Wade Jones Mch 20, 1841 Oct 4, 1907 All the names I have transcriptions for can be found at - http://gagen.i-found-it.net/rosehill.html . Let me know if there are any others I can share. The Rose Hill Cemetery Historical Foundation also has a website with excellent maps. I think a database will be forthcoming, as well. It can be found at - http://www.rosehillcemetery.org . Good Luck! Stephanie Lincecum Bibb County, Georgia American History & Genealogy Project http://gagen.i-found-it.net/bibb.html

    3. I found through someone's web posting generosity, that my anc Rebecca J BARROW JONES is buried at Rose Hill in the Central Ave District section with her husb Peyton W JONES. so far I haven't found -- are there online resources for me to find the inscription info? I'd like to know her birth/death info, and his birth info, if they are so inscribed. Peyton JONES was the first city inspector of Macon as well as CSA; perhaps there's something to that effect? [probably not] thanks. kirby in NC kirbz@northstate.net
