    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ea.2ADI/1221.1 Message Board Post: Well welcome to the family. William Jasper Brooks was the older brother of Walter Brooks whom is my great great grandfather. Most the information that you seek is located in the Cass County Texas web site. I have been working on the William Billy Brooks line for some time. William Jasper I have been trying track down but he kind of drops off the map in 1850 but their is a lead in Ga. that will hopefully pan out. I can not verify that he traveld to Texas with the family as he did not show on the 1860 census. William B Brooks forefathers have been extremely hard to track down but the closest thing that I can come up with is he may belong to the James Brooks clan. James Brooks had daughter Louisa Brooks lived in Cass Co Texas in 1850 cencus prior to the arrival of William B Brooks. Her brother Bevin Brooks son of James Brooks lived in Upson County Ga where William B first appears in a land lottery in 1827. Bevin later moved and died in Texas in 1840s in the Red River a! rea which is close to where my father was raised. James Brooks also had a son William whom died in the war of 1812 in Ga who I think could be the father of William B Brooks. I have in my possision a sword from the war of 1812 that came from my father side of the family I am just not sure how far back it goes. Anyway I "think" that William B Brooks followed his aunt and uncle Louisa Brooks and Bevin Brooks out to Texas. I have a little more info let me know.
