Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ea.2ADI/1236.1.1 Message Board Post: James I have seen some of the work you have submitted to the internet and it is really great. A lot of the pictures you put out there are my relatives and as I may never be able to visit as many cemeteries as I would like I really appreciate the work you have put into providing others with the pictures. A lot of the information I have been able to get on the Honeycutt/Hunnicutt family came from a very dear cousin, Bobby F. Stokes. I have a copy of the wills of Sarah Ann Bethena Messer where she is mentioned as well as a copy of her marriage to William. If you would like I will send to your email address what I have been able to find on this family. Perhaps together we can find out more on the Honeycutt/Hunnicutt line.

C. S. WINSLETT C. S. Winslett, 72, prominent Bibb county farmer and father of Usher T. Winslett, county tax collector, died early last night in a local hospital where he had been in a critical condition since suffering a stroke of apoplexy June 30. Striken while walking in the fields around his home near Mogul, Mr. Winslett was found unconscious and was rushed to the hospital. His condition continued critical until his death at 7:45 o'clock last night. Mr. Winslett was active in county affairs for a long number of years, having represented his district on the road board until its abolishment by action of the general assembly early in 1933. Surnames: Thomas / Hasty/ Covington/ Walsh Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ea.2ADI/1237 Message Board Post: Calvin Thomas of Richmond County, NC born 1825 was the seventh child of eleven children born to John Thomas b. ca.1792 and Elizabeth Covington b. ca. 1796. Calvin married Rebecca Elizabeth Hasty on 9 Jan 1851. They migrated to Georgia prior to the "War of Northern Aggression". I believe to Bibb County. I have located Calvin's ten siblings. He is the only unknown. I established contact with a Mrs. Emily Thomas Walsh of Georgia who had knowledge of Calvin and his family in NC. I have since lost that contact. She was in the military and in Hawaii at the time. I would appreciate any help in relocating Mrs. Walsh or data related to the above. Please contact me at ptango@aol.com

Surnames: Cherry, Floyd, Blackshear Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ea.2ADI/1157.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Yes, George F. Cherry was sheriff for 2 terms of Bibb County. We have that from family mouth to mouth, and from his obit notice. He was also a Captain in Army, during the Civil War, prior to being sheriff, and was then a farmer when he died, as well as in the Masons in Rutland district. He is supposed to be buried on Cherry family farm, and we've yet to locate that. I'm going to check further on location when in Macon again this spring, but someone posted information on the Rutland district in last couple days, and street boundaries which will help. Thanks.

Its my understanding he was either the first or second Sheriff of the County. Back in those times a Sheriff only served a term of two years and they swapped regularly.

His family has just this past year donated land in Twiggs County for historical preservation in regard to a church there if I remember correctly. He is very historic minded and would probably contact you back about your inquiry. He works out of the Federal Courthouse in Macon, Ga. Hope this helps you.

According to Jones County, Ga. marriage records William married Sarah Messer in that county. I can't find where he married Rebecca as you say. I have found a Rebecca Honeycutt in a cemetery in Crawford County (Mt. Paran Prim. Bapt. Ch.) that I documented and put a photo of her marker. There is also a William and a couple of other people whose last names were spelled Hunniecutt, but I think that was just a mispelling by whoever made the markers. If you find out anything more I would appreciate any info you may obtain and I will send you whatever I find out. Thanks.

Christopher Stokes post to this thread dated 21 September 2001 gives some detailed info on her. Charlotte did marry first Ezekiel Stokes and married Andrew Jackson Ward after Ezekiel's death. She had no other husbands. Charlotte is buried at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery in Bibb County. Jacob Green Braswell, Jr's wife, Polly Heard Braswell, is the only person I have definite proof of dying due to injuries sustained from standing too close to the fireplace. There are a handful of families in the Skipperton District that were closely related with several siblings marrying siblings from other families. Stokes/Braswell/Honeycutt/Ward/Heard are the surnames with which I am most familiar.
