I just had this note from the Houston Co CC...and wanted to share it. Everyone needs to be extra cautious about attachments ---even if it appears to have come from yourself!! >>>> I just received a message from hotmail that it was returning a message I had sent to a [email protected] And it said the attachment was the returned email. I checked my emails and I hadn't sent anything to [email protected] There was a screensaver -virus laden- attached. It seems they are harvesting names from the lists and then sending them back to the us on the list, saying " you sent this" It worries me that people are getting viruses like this, and because they think they have sent them, open them too easily. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/bibb.htm I just posted an obit that Jennifer shared on Asa E. Sherwood. What is so unique about this one, is that it is for a Confed Soldier killed in battle. I don't think I've seen very many where a write-up was printed in a newspaper....so she is very lucky to have this. Virginia

Surnames: Cain, Duffy, Mitchell, Maderias, Flournoy, Christian, Womack, Duffy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ea.2ADI/747 Message Board Post: Nancy, thank you for writing to me. Macon is o.k. Believe me, Nancy, the computer is a little glitchy. The information that I need is the Civil War record for Macon, Georgia. Warren Anderson Mitchell, C.S.A., was serving, on duty, in the recruiting office, at Camp Watts (Camp of Instruction Number One), near Notasulga, Alabama, when he contracted pneumonia and died on November 20, 1862. This is according to the Confederate Widow's Pension Claim Number 3655, dated August 24, 1891, for Warren's widowed spouse, Mrs. Lucinda Christian Mitchell. I located the widow's pension claim at the Genealogy and Historical Room at the Washington Memorial Library in Macon. Warren Anderson Mitchell was a native of Jones County, Georgia. The widow's pension claim did not state any regimental history or company information. Furthermore, Clinton, Georgia, is where they lived during the Civil War. Lucinda Christian Mitchell survived the invasion of Clinton, Georgia, during General Sherman's March to the Sea. Clinton, Georgia, was an invasion wasn't it? What it means to me is that Warren Anderson Mitchell's records were either destroyed or buried. Buried records, for example, the Civil War records for Lucinda's brothers, of Jones County, were discovered in Macon, Georgia, in May of 1956, when a confederate monument was removed. Warren's records are very hard to find. I am looking at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in nearby Washington, D.C. There are about 2500 reels of CSA microfilm; I have looked through about a dozen. DUFFY RECORDS FOR JAMES AND CLINTON, GEORGIA Agnes Alberta Duffy McAuliffe was born near James, Georgia, in 1887 and died in Lanham-Seabrook, Maryland in 1975. She was my grandmother. She was the daughter of Thomas William Duffy and Ida Warren Mitchell Duffy (daughter and only child of Warren Anderson Mitchell and Lucinda Christian Mitchell). Thomas William Duffy is mentioned in the book "History of Jones County", he was also a State legislator in the early 1900s (two terms). The Mitchells are who they really are, and are descendents of Henry Mitchell, Revolutionary Soldier, of Surrey County, Virginia, and Jones County, Georgia. Following are the siblings of my grandmother, Agnes Alberta Duffy McAuliffe (all of whom were born near James). My mother, Margaret McAuliffe Hastings, was born in Macon, Georgia, 79 years ago, and currently lives in Lanham-Seabrook, Maryland. Aunt Rita Duffy Cain--married to Uncle Carl Cain. Believe me, Nancy, Uncle Carl was the sheriff of Macon, Georgia. Any politicians. Uncle Carl and Aunt Rita had five children. I have the names of four of the children: Carl Jr.; Betty (who was killed by a car accident); Paul; and Carol. Warren Duffy--died when a child. Margaret Duffy, also Maggie--died when a child. Thomas Duffy married Libby James, no children. Mary Ida (nickname, Ida May) Duffy Kingman married Robert Kingman of Macon, Georgia, and had two children, Thomas and Robert. Robert Kingman built a store and held licenses to the liquor industry in the State of Georgia. Robert Kingman is also mentioned in the "History of Jones County, as a state legislator (see Emmett Duffy). Emmett Duffy was a graduate of West Point and was serving in France during World War. He was injured in a German gas attack, by the gas itself, and also when his horse fell on him. For the rest of his life, Emmett had the use of one lung. Emmett Duffy is also mentioned in the "History of Jones County". After the death of Emmet's father, he went to live in Macon, Georgia, with the Kingmans. Sarah Duffy Jennings-married Frank Jennings and had four children. One child died at an early age. I have the names of two of the children: Mary Anne and Henry. Lois Duffy Stubbs--where are Warren's Civil War records? Lois married Abner Stubbs and had five children: Revel; Abner; Mary Ida, nickname Dolly; Celia; and Joseph. Do you see any Cain-Duffy relations in Macon, Georgia? Please say it to the Duffys. Rita Cain was very good to me. Thanking you sincerely, Terri Anne Hastings Average e-mail is o.k.: [email protected]

Surnames: Lucas, Thompson, Knight, Nobles Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Ea.2ADI/654.1 Message Board Post: Arthur Lucas is listed in the 1830 census for Twiggs Co., Ga. The book, "THE HISTORY OF TWIGGS COUNTY" lists Arthur Lucas and Jonas Lucas as listed in the Twiggs County Calvary attached to the 37th Regiment. They are shown as having enlisted on Feb.4, 1836. This was the period of the Creek Indian Wars. This could explain why he died in Alabama since Muscogee Co.,Ga. and Alabama about the state line was a battle ground. I think Jonas was a brother to Arthur and he had other siblings including at least two sisters, one being Lina Lucas also listed in the Twiggs Co.1830 Census. She was born 1810. I also found an Arthur Lucas listed in the Family History Centers records. He was born Nov. 9, 1804 in Macon, Bibb Co.,Ga. I think this maybe the same Arthur Lucas listed later on in the Twiggs census. I would like to know what information you have on this family. This is my brick wall. My Thompsons married into this Lucas family. Other surnames are Knight and Nobles. Hope we can make a connection. Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks, Deborah Thompson Blizzard [email protected]

Some of his children: Isaiah, Alexander, Alfred, Richard, Young, John, Elizabeth, Martha, Sarah and Espie - the names are not in birth order, as I do not have that information. Gatsey is another uncommon name that comes up in the family.
