    1. [GABIBB] *correction* Re:Charles 'CT' Kitchens
    2. Laszlo and Cathleen Szabo
    3. The message below has three mistakes in the third paragraph. I've numbered the paragraphs to make the corrections easier to find. In the third paragraph, the name 'Bryant' was the surname of the stepfather who raised CT Kitchens. He, CT Kitchens, married a woman whose maiden name was Lula Langston. They raised nine children (not seven as stated below); seven boys and two girls. Please add Langston to the surnames that are in this group. Another possible mistake in the 4th paragraph - the 1920 census places this family in Irwin County, not Turner County. So I'm not as sure about my father's (Terrell Kitchens) county of birth. It may have been Irwin. Thank you for any help you can offer. ************************************************************** 1. I'm attempting to research my ancestors and finding very little. Surnames include Kitchens, Wiggins, Bryant and Walker. 2. My paternal grandfather, Charles Kitchens, was sometimes called 'CT' Kitchens. We were told that his middle name was probably Thomas. He was born about 1861 in Bibb County and died about 1935, probably in Bibb, or possibly Crawford or Turner County. His father, Charles Kitchens (though the first name is not certain) died fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War when my grandfather was a very young child. 3. Grandfather was raised by his grandparents and, after his mother remarried, by his stepfather and mother. He married a woman whose maiden name was Bryant and they had seven children, John, Ed, Charley, Viola, Molly, Retus and Harry. The seven children were born between 1880-1907. This wife died either in birthing Harry, the youngest, or shortly thereafter. 4. The woman hired to care for these children, Minnie Lee Wiggins (probably from Crawford County, d. about 1955 in Macon) became Charles (CT) Kitchens second wife and bore him four sons, Ira b. 1910, Terrell b. 7/7/1912, Herbert Lee (HL) b. about 1914, and Wilbur Bernard (Pete) b. about 1917. My father, Terrell (and possibly all of these four boys) were born in Turner County. At one point they lived near Live Oak settlement. 5. My father mentioned a relative named Ollie Walker about whom I know nothing else. Any information or leads will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Cathleen Szabo

You are one on the ball , researching, info finding and sharing, great group to be associated with. They say flattery will get you everywhere (smile). So here is my query for the group. I had an Aunt Lizzie Bivens McCrary who died in Macon Georgia in 1956. Her funeral was held at the East Second Street Holiness Church. According to her obituary in the Macon News, for the colored community, her internment was in the Kitchens Cemetery evidentally somewhere in Macon. Does any one have an inkling where the Kitchens Cemetery is located or was located in 1956? Is there a East Second Street Holiness Church still in Macon? Thanks for any info at all on the cemetery and the church.

    2. Everyone who thought Viola's last name was SHIRAH was correct! Thank-you to Jeff W. Shirah for providing the following information: Viola's maiden name was Shirah and she was a daughter of Andrew J. Shirah (1827-1862) and Nancey Lisenby of Houston Co, GA. W.T. and Viola had at least one child, Maude Watson. Stephanie

Unknown as to how many people were employed there, but quite a number of people were employed. The plant was located on Guy Paine Road - just off Houston Ave & Broadway. My mother and her sister both worked there during World War II (1942-1944) and the above information came from my aunt who is in her 80's. The plant later opened by Maxson Corp and made seat belts, I believe, for Volkswagen...but that was in 70's or 80's.

    1. [GABIBB] 1840 Census - Ward 1, Ward 2
    2. This is the first of more postings to come on the 1840 Bibb County Census. There are more than 8 enumeration districts. In the 1840 Census, the enumerator for Bibb County, Wards 1 and 2(William B. Cone), was asked to obtain the names of the head of household, the number of free white males and females in age categories, number of slaves, etc. In this posting, Ward 1 and Ward 2 are listed with the names of the head of household only. Due to the spelling and handwriting difficulties, the spelling of the names sometimes need to be corrected. When I could not read the names, I attempted to write what I could get, and used a question mark. Please contribute any corrections. 1. [GABIBB] census on-line ???
    2. Crilley
    3. I need all of you to help me with some INFORMATION about the census that is already on-line (at some of the pay sites).....and also with CDs that you might own....or microfilm that you may have available. I'm not asking you to transcribe a Census (although that would be nice!)... If you have access to Ancestry (or any other pay site) ....or CDs....this is what we need: 1) Source ie (Ancestry, Quest, S-K) 2) listing of the P.O. (at the top of the Page) and the # of the district 3) the pages this district covers 4) the numbering method that is being used (Ancestry uses one method...CD use another, and every census has a handwritten and a stamped number) This will enable people to see the vicinity, and know what pages they would need to go through on that specific image group. (Not asking anyone to do look-ups.... on specific names.....just post offices! If you would be willing to help, e-mail me, and I'll explain in more detail... Virginia Crilley
