At the urging of the Veterans Service Organizations, the Act of 1938 pertaining to "Armistice Day" was amended by the 83rd Congress, to remove the word "Armistice" and replace it with the word "Veterans." This legislation (Public Law 380) approved June 01, 1954, declared November 11th to become "Veterans Day," a day to honor American Veterans of all wars. Dear List Members, I wanted to give you a few days to get your thoughts together on this. In honor of our veterans from ALL wars, you are invited to share with this list some of your family who have served their country in the military, or are currently serving. (Just don't reveal too much information on the living.) If you have served in the military yourself, please feel free to share with us when and where, if you desire. If you can tie these family members in with this county, add some genealogy data to them, that would be grand. On this special day, not absolutely necessary though. You may just send a list of your veterans, or if you desire to write a special tribute to one or more of them, you are encouraged to do so, if you have more than one of these special tributes, you may want to send them in separate messages so that the emphasis isn't lost. If you have a website that honors your Veterans, why not share the link and your thoughts on why it is important with us? Peace to each of you and those you love. Sharon
