If you get a chance to go to the Ellen Payne Library in Moultrie Ga. Look for the book 'A record of the Lindsey and Allied Families of Southern Georgia' by Henry Wilkes. There is a copy of the letter that Zilphia wrote to her brother-in-law Matthew Lindsey. It tells of the deaths that occured in the family while they were in Spanish Honduras, in Central America. Five members of the family died while they were there including Ashley Lindsey, Zilphia's husband and Zilphia's nephew Matt Tucker and his young daughter. There were 32 familiy members who went on the trip. The letter names Alice, the Browns, Lees, and Tuckers. Jake, Alice's child, Matt, Zilphia Mae, Becca, and Mary. They ended up in Mulberry Fla. because people knew them there. The letter mentions Ellen and Becca's folks being there. Ashley was born December 23, 1846 died August 17, 1911. Zilphia was born September 28, 1851 and she died November 1, 1915. They were married on September 29, 1867 and had eight children. Ashley is the son of Benjamin and Eleanor Shaw Lindsey. Does anyone know where Zilphia is burried? Ashley was burried in Spanish Honduras.
