Recently, I discovered a 'possible' JONES descendant of which I'm hoping that someone on the list can help me with? I am trying to find out any information on a Ben O. Jones and his family. According to census information, Ben was born in Georgia about 1872. He first lived in Berrien in 1910 then Cook County (as a widower) in 1920/30. From what I can find in the census reports, he had about nine children. He and his wife, Virginia M. (Mary?) are buried in Wilkes Cemetery (Community Calvary) in Cook Co. There are six unmarked concrete slabs within that family plot. I would really like to know who his parents were and any other siblings of Ben. There are fairly new markers placed on both Ben and Virginia's concrete slabs. It appears that these might have been added years ago by family members?? Ben's marker dates are 1870-1933 and Virginia's are 1873-1916. I speculate Ben's birthdate to be off by two years according to census reports...instead of 1870 it should be about 1872. Also located within the family plot is a Charlie Jones and Rosie Jones. Inscribed dates for Charlie are, birth: December 6, 1902 and death date as November 17, 1985. Rosie's dates are, birth: August 10, 1901 and death date January 22, 1974. I've been in contact with a close friend and researcher of that area and thoughts are that this Charlie is also known as 'Preacher Jones'? Charlie and Rosie had a child named William who married a Hattie Brown. It is thought that they might have had two daughters who lived and attended school in Adel?
