    3. There is a listing of newspapers held by the University of Georgia at http://www.libs.uga.edu/gnp/index.html Most of these newspapers can be obtained through interlibrary loan from your local library. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tim H To: GABERRIE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, January 04, 2004 5:24 PM Subject: [GABERRIE] Obits ETC How does one look up obits and death records for Tift County (maybe Worth County or even Berrien) , GA for 1906 ? I'm under the impression that proper records didn't start in GA till about 1919. Do you have to go to the papers themselves, or would the local libraries have these records? Any other way to find records of death? I can't find markers in the cemetary where I'm told my ancestors have been buried. I understand that Tift County was formed from Irwin,Berrien and Worth in 1905. I'm looking for info on Joseph (Joe) (A.) Harrell. Well, also, his wife Eliza Kansas (some have listed middle initail as R or A) Harrell, about 10 years (? I'm guessing) later. (I'd also love to find records on the death of a Flora Ann Harrell, married to William Harrell. She may have died at childbirth, in 1862, in Berrien County, Nashville, GA) I'm trying to find the parents of Joseph Harrell, b. abt. 1862, died Jan 22, 1906 near or in Tifton, GA. It is possible that his parents were William and Flora Ann Harrell who came to Georgia in about 1853 with 3 children. In 1870 census, it appears that their children are in foster homes (Three girls in Berrien. Joseph appears to have been raised by the Lindsey's, some of which moved to Worth County by 1870). Which could be consistent with Joseph's mother dying in childbirth about 1862. Mine, maybe the only Harrell family not well documented in south Georgia. I come from a line of Harrell's that died young , so family history doesn't get passed down well. Thanks, Tim Harrell ==== GABERRIE Mailing List ==== To post messages to the Berrien County, GA discussion list, send them to GABERRIE-L@rootsweb.com YOU are an important part of this list! ============================== Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
