I'm looking for information on Hester Clark Lindsey. She moved to Lowndes - Irwin county (now Berrien County) in the early 1800's after her husband Thomas Lindsey was killed by Indians in 1816. She moved here from Montgomery County with most of her children which means that some of her children did not come with her. I know that Nancy Ivey came later after her husband John Ivey died. There could have been others who did not come also. Thomas was married once before he married Hester Clark. This means that there are probally children in Ga. from that marriage also. I haven't a clue who they might be. I am interested in finding out what happened to Nathan Lindsey who was listed on the 1830 census report for Lowndes County. There were four Lindsey families listed that year. Nathan Lindsey 2M 1F, Hester Lindsey 2M 6F, Robert Lindsey 1M 1F, and John Lindsey 5M 5F. Robert and John are sons of Thomas and Hester. I don't know how or if Nathan fits into the family. If anyone is int! erested there is a DNA study being done on the Linds*y family. You can check it out at www.clanlindsay.com/genealogy.htm Most of this family are still in south Ga. If anyone has proof of Thomas Lindsey being killed by Indians please let me know or point me in the right direction. Thanks, Gwen Lindsey Robinson Good Character is doing the right thing when no one is looking.
