    1. RE: [GABERRIE] Genealogy Data Question
    2. Sharon I switched from an easy tree program to the Familytree maker Ver.11 a month ago. I just imported my information as a gedcom file. It worked well only a few glitches like ...it didnt replace any notes I had made on an idividual and I also had a lot of duplicates of which the FTM will help you merge together. Now it should be easier with you since you have all your files in the FTM program. Just import them into one file. Im sure there will be a few things you will have to tweak, but it should work just fine in the end. Good Luck. By this, I mean do you create a separate family file for each major surname? Or do you put it all together in one huge database? I began my genealogy only a few years ago...being a newbie, I began by creating a SEPARATE family file for each surname. This is now causing me problems. I find that I miss SOOO much information. I will have added some data under one allied family name, and some under the main file name. My focus isn't the best at this particular time anyhow, but even when it is, I find myself making too many unnecessary circles due to my method. Guess it is partly because I don't always have time to type it ALL under each name; or perhaps at times sheer laziness <VBG> in not wanting to type it under each family name. We won't even discuss all the papers I have stacked up that NEED to be entered. "The pile monster." I am using Family TreeMaker v.8 if that matters. TIA for your input. 2. SHADRI** I have been using the LDS program PAF 3.01 for many years and it does a great job. You can record notes & sources with ease. I am not a morman, but they have helped me a lot. You can order the program from their website www.familysearch.org It only costs about $15 and if I can be of more help, let me know at bilmo9@yahoo.com I am almost blind and sometimes slow. I am researching the RUTHERFORD and all connecting families in Berrien County. There were 15 districts in Berrien County in 1930, so my work will be broken up into five volumes. I have finished the first three volumes (districts 1-9), and these are now available for purchase. I am almost finished with volume 4 (districts 10-12) and hope to be finished with the final volume (districts 13-15) by the beginning of summer if not before then. Each volume is indexed, and each entry includes the person's name, relation to head of household, sex, race, age, place of birth, parents' place of birth, and occupation. As a companion volume to the census I have compiled the front page headlines from The Nashville Herald in 1930. With this also is a list of the local businesses who were regular advertisers with The Herald. When the census is completely transcribed, I plan to have a master index of all five volumes available as well.
