Does anyone know the location of Pettis Creek where a Union Block House was located during the 1865 push south by the Yankees? A distant relative, Lt. Bartholomew (USA), was ordered to ride to Dalton from this post to help my great-grandmother, Jane Stanfield Chapman of Walker Co., GA. board a train heading north. Her husband, Luna had been captured and was put across the Ohio River after promising not to return South. Jane Chapman was accompanied by her 4 children, (one a baby), and some of her belongings. They were assigned a box car for this trip which was complicated by diptheria and sidetracking. I have tried to locate where this creek and where the Block House might be located. Is it under Lake Alatoona? Thanks in advance for any help. Sincerely, Pat Ristau in Conyers, GA
