Trying to find parents/family of Martha Brown born 9-22-1835 in Edgefield SC & died 9-30-1921 we think in Bartow County. She first married a Henry Cochran(B 1836 in SC)we beleive in SC & they are listed on the 1860 Paulding County census with children Mary(1856) & William (1857). Also listed is a Mary Brown age 63 & born in SC. (Maybe her mother????) Henry served in Co c 22nd regiment & claimed residence in Paulidng. He died during the war in Rapidan, VA. Martha then married C. M. Gladden we know before 1865. They had a daughter, Heneryetta who died in 1865 & is buried with her father in Crossroads Baptist church. C. M. died in 1884. Martha married a James Monroe McGuire 10-1-1885 in Paulding County at the home of Henry Washington (son of John & Susan Brown) & Sarah Smith Brown. James was born in Elbert County 8-12-1825 & died in Haralson County 8-22-1906. We can't link Martha to John & Susan Brown. They were all from SC. John & Susan were on the Chester Census & other members in Edgefield/Fairfield & we feel that she maybe a niece/cousin. We know that she is connected to them. John had a couple of brothers that we could not find family on the 1850 census. They may have died before the 1850 census & Martha & her mother??" Mary" might have come with the Browns to Paulding County Ga. Any help would be appreciated. Suzi Motley Wilmington, NC
