My brick wall concerns James Milner and his second wife Susan, my gggrandfather and gggrandmother. They married about 1856, but I have not found a marriage record. I have not found when either of them died, nor where they are buried. They both appear in the 1860 and 1870 Censuses of Cass/Bartow county. I have viewed many different copies of the 1880 Bartow Census, but many pages were too light to be read. Therefore, I do not know if they were still living at that time. My gggrandmother may have been Mrs. Susan Adamson at the time she married James, since Anna Adamson, age 13 in 1860, lived with them in both 1860 and 1870. Of course, Anna does not have to be Susan's daughter. Anna and Susan were both born in SC. That is also where James lived before moving to Cass county, about 1834. I suspect the marriage may have occurred there. -- Jeff Milner Crawfordville, GA jmilner.ce57@gtalumni.org
There is a James Milner who is a lawyer in the 1850 census. He is also from SC but married to a Cecilia M. who was from NC.
