Hello all. I'm trying to confirm the family story that my gr-gr-grandmother was Frances BRYAN (or Martha Ann Frances BRYAN). That's the family story, but I can find no one with proof. I've been looking for her in Floyd County, GA, but am now turning my sights to Bartow. I'm hoping someone will have her in their family tree or will be willing to do marriage and/or cemetery lookups. Here's the story. My gr-gr-gr-grandparents and their children were on the Cass County census is 1860 and still there (now Bartow County) in 1870. In 1880 they are next door in Floyd County. On that 1880 census my gr-gr-grandfather, William Hammet THRASH, is single. A relative has in his notes a marriage date of 10/12/1884, but does not remember where this info was obtained and I have been unable to find their marriage record in Floyd County. Their first child was born 2/21/1886. Their second child was born 11/23/1888. Again, the same relative has her death date as 7/6/1889, but again no record of where this date came from. I have not found her listed in the Floyd County cemetery book and she is not buried at Wax Cemetery where several other family members are buried. Hammet remarried in Floyd County on 8/21/1894. I searched the soundex for the 1880 Georgia census hoping to find Martha Ann Frances BRYAN as a child in her parents' household. I found 2 possible candidates in Bartow County: Head of Family: W. J. BRYAN, W, M., age 39, District #851 Wife, Elizabeth, age 39 Ann F., daughter, age 17 Asberry, son, age 16 Martha, daughter, age 14 Wm. M., son, age 12 Henry, son, age 8 Oliver, son, age 5 Ann F. could be Ann Frances, or it could be Martha. If the marriage date is correct Ann F. would have been 21 and Martha would have been 18. I have a good feeling about Ann F. So here is my plea. 1. Could someone do a marriage lookup for any BRYAN to any THRASH? 2. Could someone do a cemetery book lookup (if there is such a book) for Martha or Ann or Frances THRASH? It's possible that even if they lived in Floyd County, since she died young, she may have been taken back to Bartow to be buried with her family. Yes, I'm clutching at straws. 3. Is anyone researching this W. J. BRYAN family who could tell me anything, even if only to rule them out as my connection? I've had wonderful luck on my THRASH family, with this one exception. I've been beating my head against a wall over this woman. She seems to have fallen through every loophole. I even tried newspapers for 1889 (her alleged date of death) and, wouldn't you know, the Floyd County library has microfilms of 1888 and 1890 - skips right over 1889. We have a portrait of this lady (I've been wondering who could afford such a thing in 1880's Georgia) and would love to learn about her. I would greatly appreciate any and all help. Many thanks in advance. Pam
