Hi Pat Pettit Creek runs alongside Hwy 411 between White and Oakland Heights. It runs into Aubrey Lake at the intersection of Interstate 75 and Highway 411. Let me know if you need anything else. I am looking for my family members that settled nearby in the early 1800's. Do you have anything on the Lowry/Lowery/Lowrey families in this area? Hi, We are looking for information on any HUBBARD family that was in Adairsville, Cass Co., GA in 1852. We have a John W. HUBBARD who was born Apr., 23, 1852 in Adairsville, GA. Can anyone help us. Mel & Joede Karsten Cornelius, OR
Hello. Well, I will post my query also...it's been a long time since I have done so. I am researching Arthur BROWN , age 55, who was living in Cassville, Bartow County, GA. in 1880 with his family: Florence, 16 ; Charles 14 ; and Oscar, 9. The children were all born in GA. and Arthur was born in GA as well. His parents were born in Virginia. No wife on the census. I know Oscar Brown eventually moved to Topeka, Shawnee Co. Kansas and was married in 1891 to Lena Peterson. I wish I knew more about this family. I looked for them in Bartow County on the census in 1870. No luck. I am having a hard time finding Arthur Brown in the census for GA in 1870. Since Oscar was 9 yrs. old and born in GA....I figured the family was most likely in GA. somewhere . Thanks. Janis Foley
Looking for info on John S. Henderson who moved to Cass/Bartow sometime in the 1850's. The 1860 census has 2 males age 20 with first names beginning with J living with him but this is the first time they are listed in his household. Who are they? His daughter Laura Althea married Henry Jackson Wade. Don't have a date for their marriage. Also need parents of Henry Jackson Wade born Dec 1829, died Sept 1922. Lynda Wilson

I am so proud of Bartow County, Just thought you might want to share it with us. Jean RE: Cassville Cemetery Date: Tue, 14 Sep 1999 13:35:45 -0400 From: Teresa Greer <TGREER@sacscoc.org> To: jbelew@bellsouth.net I am looking for any Sewells who might be buried there. Several of the family members of Richard Gaines, L.W. Gaines and Henry Gaines are buried there, and one of their women married into the Sewells. In the 1840 and 1850 census' , this Sewell family was shown between the two Gaines families, indicating they were nearest neighbors. It seems somewhat logical that if they lived together, they also might be buried together. I have been to your Bartow County page, and let me say that you and your volunteers have done an outstanding job of getting as many records as possible up on the Web. I've been to other county GenWeb sites in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee that were nearly useless. Pat, I don't think Pettit Creek is under water let me look in to it further and I will get back to you. Linda
Does anyone know the location of Pettis Creek where a Union Block House was located during the 1865 push south by the Yankees? A distant relative, Lt. Bartholomew (USA), was ordered to ride to Dalton from this post to help my great-grandmother, Jane Stanfield Chapman of Walker Co., GA. board a train heading north. Her husband, Luna had been captured and was put across the Ohio River after promising not to return South. Jane Chapman was accompanied by her 4 children, (one a baby), and some of her belongings. They were assigned a box car for this trip which was complicated by diptheria and sidetracking. I have tried to locate where this creek and where the Block House might be located. Is it under Lake Alatoona? Thanks in advance for any help. Sincerely, Pat Ristau in Conyers, GA
Francis Marion "Frank" Smith was my great-grandfather. I can't seem to find any information about his family and I know many of them lived in Cartersville (and relatives still do). Can anyone help? His wife, Ellie lived to be 103 years old so I know many people must have known them. Thank you.
Mary, Where are your Cochran located? Linda Gossett Cochran
Hi Y'all :) Recently I began researching my family's history. The facts I have on the folks I'll mention below are limited so I can use all the help I can get :-) If you recognize any of these names from your own research, please email me and let's compare notes. Ira Mack Padgett (date/place of birth unknown, at this time) I believe he died in the Crystal Springs community of Floyd County, GA about 1923. Ira Mack Padgett was married twice. I don't know his first wife's name yet. Their children that I'm aware of were: Sam, Eula, Grace, Lily. Ira Mack Padgett's second wife was Annie Mae Hackett of Bartow County. They had a daughter who died young and a son Robert Mack Padgett (b. 19-Mar-1917 in Bartow County). Thanks for any help you can give me. I am researching the Freeman, Henderson, and Buford families of Bartow Co. The Freeman family was headed by John Freeman b1816 in SC d???. The Henderson family was headed by John S. Henderson b1813 in SC(?Laurens Co.?) and died after 1880 in Bartow Co. The Buford family was headed by Peter Buford b1800 in SC d1908!! in Bartow Co. Michael Tucker Gadsden, AL
The 1870 census for Bartow Co. lists Emeline Jorden(spelling may be wrong), head of household with the following children: Susan, age 22; Hillard(probably Hilliard), age 21; Emily, age 18; Elizabeth, age 10; Fannie, age 8; and Willie, age 4. Does anyone out there know who this woman's husband was or anything about her? I have reason to believe the child Fannie was my grandmother. I'm truly up against a brick wall. Jeanette Treadaway, Adairsville, GA
According to the 1880 census, my great grandfather lived in the Little Prairie Dist. near Adairsville. Does anyone know where this is located? Would like to hear from any Vaughan/ Vaughn from that area. Thelma
