Researching the Charles Baker, Revolutionary soldier, buried at Pine Log. Would appreciate any information about his children,---their spouses, the date of their marriages, where they lived most of their lives and where they are buried,----especially Joel Baker and Ann Baker Terrell. Thank you! Eliizabeth Baker
Looking for any information on "Pap" Jones, who was said to have been in the Bartow county area around the time of the Civil War. Family legend is that he may have been a judge. Thanks in advance for any help. RoseMary rhyatt@hiwaay.net
Looking for info on a H. F. Wade in the 1880 Bartow Co., GA. census. He is listed as age 26, wife Rebecca 29, son Goli(s) 4, son Leroy age 2. I think this might be Henry Frank Wade, son of Henry Jackson Wade. Frank moved to Cayce Co., KY after this census. Any leads appreciated. Lynda Wilson
This is an update to let everyone know that my cookbook is coming along nicely. I've received many delicious recipes, some genealogy, history, stories, a few photos, etc. from many wonderful people. Thanks to all of you, I think this will be a really nice book. It will be more than a "recipe" book, which was my aim. Of course, I've added my own personal touches that I hope will be of interest to everyone. The book will have at least 200 recipes. I don't know exactly how many pages at this point in time, but a rough guess would be 200 pages or more. I am still accepting recipes and whatever anyone would care to contribute to my book. You may email or snail mail them to me. I am hoping to get it together and send it to the publisher within the next few weeks. The publisher will typeset it, send it back to me for proofreading and I'll send it back to them to be printed. All of this could take 4-6 months. I am now accepting payment for my cookbook. For those who have already reserved books, please send payment to me at the address listed below. For those who have patiently been waiting for me to begin taking orders, you may send payment along with your orders to the address listed below, also. Check or money order, please. NO CASH. The cost per book is $ 9.95 plus $ 3.80 for postage making a total of $ 13.75. Please do NOT reply to the list. Reply to me PRIVAYELY at DLizgerlits@aol.com. Thank you and Happy Easter! I have been tracing my husband's grandmother Cochran and have tracked back to Cass County. I wanted to see if anyone recognized this family of Cochrans. I have followed them in Gordon County to the present day but I'm interested in going backwards with the family. I don't know anything about Myers' father James and not that much about Phebe Dickey except that she was the daughter of James Willis Dickey & Polly Douglas. I haven't explored her family yet so I would love to hear more about them. - ------------------------------- Here is the info I have: James Cochran, b. NC.> Myers Cochran b. abt. 1812 m. Phebe Dickey November 20, 1838 in Cass County>William Cochran, b. 1848 in Gordon Co. 1840 Myers Cochran is in Cass County Census. A James Cochran from Gwinnett Co. is shown in the Land Lottery Records as receiving Cherokee land in Cass Co. after Jan. 1, 1838. Is this Myers father? Marriage Records show Myers Cochran marrying Phebe Dickey in Cass County, November 20, 1838. Gordon County Deed Book A shows Myers Cochran "of Cass County" purchasing 160 acres in 1852 although he is shown in 1850 Census records as living in Gordon County. Sincerely, Gwen Brooks Researching: Brooks, Morgan, Cochran, Shelhorse, Perry, Radcliff, Jones, Nichols, Chandler, Bates, McLeod, etc.
I plan to visit this area in the near future and would like to know in advance the locations of some of the older cemeteries, 1870-1900. My great grandfather T.J. Vaughan/Vaughn lived in the Little Prairie district (where ever that was?) in 1880. My grandmother is listed as born in Adairsville, so I assume Little Prairie was near Adairsville. I would appreciate hearing from someone with knowledge of this area. Tmarie Longview, TX tmarielong@aol.com
Hi all, I'm brand new, here...Does anyone have the 1870 census? I looking for Calvin SETTELS, and family. I have the ATCHISON COUNTY MISSOURI, Directory of the Deceased. If you are patient with me, I can do lookups...
Fran, The Etowah Valley Historical Society has the Confederates on Microfilm listing all those from Cartersville. They have an excellant resource room. Linda
A good source to check for information about the Confederate dead is the Bartow County Genealogical Society at PO Box 993 Cartersville Ga 30120-0993 or call 777-606-0706. I think there is a listing of those buried at the Kingston cemetery as well other sources. There is also the Etowah Historical Society in Cartersville located beside the courthouse. Fran
I am new to this list and am wondering if anyone knows where they would have buried the confederate soldiers who died at the hospital there during the Civil War. I have an ancester who did die there and would love to find him. Thanks for any help. Susan Lane
Can anyone do a lookup for me in the 1840 Cass Co. census? I am looking for Jesse W. Morrow. I need to know 1) if he was there, and 2) the sexes and ages of the people in his household. This information is very important to my research! Please help! Thanks. -- Dianne

My THRASH family moved from Meriwether Co., GA, to Cass/Bartow Co. between 1850 and 1860. Were still in Bartow Co., in 1870, but moved next door to Floyd Co., by 1880. My gr-gr-grandfather, William Hammett THRASH married Martha Ann Francis BRYAN (we think) some time after 1880 census and she had died before 1890. She's a mystery. Looking for a marriage record. Maybe they met/married in Bartow County. Does anyone have marriage records who could do a lookup? Or cemetery records? We don't know where she is buried. We have a portrait of her and would love to find out any info about her. Thanks in advance. Pam
Sorry, folks. For some reason only half my previous message went through. I'll try again. To all researchers: I just received the following message on another mailing list. I've already found (from H'ville, AL) my father-in-law's birthday on it and have deleted it. Still looking for other family members. Please excuse the mass cross-mailing. Thought everyone should know. I have been made aware of a website that lists everyone and their birthdays. It is www.anybirthday.com. I have already deleted many of my family members. If you do not want your family members listed here are the steps to delete them. At the main page go to the bottom of the page, click on FAQ. On the next page go to How Can I remove and click privacy statement. On the next page scroll down to "Opt Out Option." Click on it. It will take you to the page to delete yourself and family members. You will need the persons first & last name, birthdate and zip code to delete. To remove more family, repeat the steps.
