    1. [GABARTOW] Where to look?
    2. Cindy Zadrozny
    3. Hubby and I are planning to take a trip south sometime in June. I would like to look and see if I can find any more info on my g-g-granddad, John Cobb and his family. I found them on the 1870 census and that's as far back as I go. I was wondering, could someone tell me where to look for any further info? Where is the Courthouse, Historical Society, etc?? Could someone tell us of any good eating places or motels to stay in? Also, would anyone be able to tell me how to find the Archives in Atlanta? Sure would appreciate any help! Cindy

    3. GA Korean War MIA/POWs need help ----- Original Message ----- From: "B & C Pierce" <ltlbit@mindspring.com> Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2001 10:23 AM Subject: Fw: GA Korean War MIA/POWs need help I received the following message this a.m. - There are several listed for GA Counties - if any of you know families of these military personnel, please follow the instructions and provide that information ----- Original Message ----- From: Harold Keisling Subject: GA Korean War MIA/POWs need help Dear List Administrator; You will note that DNA is need on several of the service men. That is DNA from a living person who descends from the same blood line. The message below can also be posted along with the request. As a former service member I am doing everything within my power to get the message out. Feel free to modify, abbreviate, or alter this to best suit your needs. Thank you. Sincerely, Harold Keisling, Cookeville TN -----------------message follows--------------------------------- The Army has some unidentified remains of service members from North Korea. Since DNA data was unknown in the 1950s there was no profile on these personnel. The Army can now conduct DNA on the remains, but they have an incomplete database of DNA form close family members with which to compare. There are several on the list for your state and some may be from your county. Please look at the list and see if any from you county are annotated with needing DNA "Yes". If find one, look under DNA and see what relative is acceptable. Then find a relative in your area that meets this criterion and send their name, address or phone number to the following contact at Department of the Army. There is not guarantee that the missing service member from your county will be found, but thru DNA testing the Army can confirm or eliminate him as a name for the remains that they have. This is an important service that we can provide to our fellow citizens. We owe this much to our service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country and in the name of freedom. Let us resolve to get all of these needed DNA for our state submitted. Steps to follow: 1. Look at the state List and find people from your county 2. copy and paste the service member name or jot it down on paper so that you use the same spelling when you go to the DNA database. 3. Go to DNA database and see if they need DNA, if not then the Army has what data they need. If they need DNA then you need to find a good DNA source. 4. Look under DNA on one of the pages and it will tell you what is acceptable. 5. Develop a list of siblings, offsprings etc with addresses/phone number and send them to the e-mail address or call them into the 1-800 number. 6. The Army has its own procedure for following up and getting the DNA samples. PMKOR Data by name search: http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/pmkor/files.htm Your state Data, select ASCII and then open in place: http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/pmkor/statefiles.htm?State=ga&Name=Georgia Korean DB search by name DNA needed: http://www.koreanwar.org/html/korean_war_databases.html Send you data to this address or call the 800 number that is listed on the database. 3. Does anyone have access to Death records or obits for a Laura Ann (Fite) Smalley, born about 1855 in GA, (married to James W. Smalley, born 1850, GA) who probably died about 1880-1885 in Cass/Bartow County, GA? I need to know her exact date of death and where she is buried if possible. I sure would like to know how she died also, because she and my grandfather (who was her son) and my father all died relatively young. Thanks! 2. Cindy Zadrozny
    3. I am searching for my g-g-granddad, John (possibly C or H (Henry? or Humphrey?) Cobb who was born on June 12, 1844 in AL. In every census record that I've found him in so far, he claims he was born in AL, however, I've only found him living in GA then in MO. The first census I've found him on is 1870 Bartow County, GA, a farmer. He was married to his first wife Martha. In 1880, he was on the Dade County, GA census, a miner. Martha was also on this census with him. In 1900, he was on the Chattooga census, again, a miner but by then, he'd remarried. This wife's name was Fannie. Could someone please help? Sure would appreciate it. ANY info would be a big help. Cindy

    2. Sandra Holik
    3. I need to find out if my ggrandmother, Laura (Annie) Fite Smalley b. 1855, married to James W. Smalley b. 1853, died in Bartow County (they resided in Cass County which I know is now Bartow County). My grandfather, Richard Clyde Smalley, was a baby (we think) when she died. We know that the next mention we have of James W. Smalley, he was remarried in Texas to Anne Steel and my grandfather was about 3 yrs. old. We know that James W. died about 1906 in Hill County, TX but we aren't sure if she came to Texas with him or if she died before he came to Texas. Thanks!
