Betty's asking about Mars Hill Cemetery reminds me that is everyone would send me their "burials" with extra information, we could begin to create Cemetery LIsts and get them on-line. Since many times (especially the smaller cemeteries) the folks are some how related to one another, you might find a name that you've been looking for. I prefer this format: JONES, James Jan 2, 1845 - Feb 5, 1892 (husband of Joyce Gilmer Jones) (son of Henry and Betty Hanson Jones) When you send be sure to mention that it is Bartow County --- as I work with lots of counties. 3. My brick wall concerns James Milner and his second wife Susan, my gggrandfather and gggrandmother. They married about 1856, but I have not found a marriage record. I have not found when either of them died, nor where they are buried. They both appear in the 1860 and 1870 Censuses of Cass/Bartow county. I have viewed many different copies of the 1880 Bartow Census, but many pages were too light to be read. Therefore, I do not know if they were still living at that time. My gggrandmother may have been Mrs. Susan Adamson at the time she married James, since Anna Adamson, age 13 in 1860, lived with them in both 1860 and 1870. Of course, Anna does not have to be Susan's daughter. Anna and Susan were both born in SC. That is also where James lived before moving to Cass county, about 1834. I suspect the marriage may have occurred there. -- Jeff Milner Crawfordville, GA jmilner.ce57@gtalumni.org

3. There were several Samuel Higginbothams living in Georgia at the same time. Two, in or around Cass County. I haven't connected to the others. I am seeking information on Samuel Higginbotham born cir. 1803 (?), married 9-24-1822 in Clark County, Georgia to Mary Ann Ball born cir. 1803 (SC). I have nothing on them prior to their marriage. I have, good, info on their 9 children born between 1825 and 1841 in Cass County, Ga.. At least one child was born in Allatoona, Cass County. Some or all of the family moved to StClair Co., AL in 1855. Two children died in GA. before the move. Samuel Higginbotham is my ggggrandfather. I appreciate any information or comments. 3. Hi! In the 1850 Census there is 1334-1351McGuire, Terrance 27M IRE Stone Mason Margaret 21F GA Summer, John 73M IRE (grandfather?) A few doors down is 1342-1359 McGuire, Patrick 31M IRE Quarer (brother?) Marianda 22F GA Next Door to Terrance is: McLellan, Robert 60M SCT Stone Mason Mariah B. 62F SCT William 25M Cabinet Maker David 9M SCT A SCT is Scotland. There are no other Irishmen in the immediate area. You might follow the brother and see if you can find out from his line where he was born and who his parents were. You might also check the Bartow County Marriage records and see if they were married here. That would give you her maiden name. He died aweful young....killed in a quary accident? Did they have any children? It looks like he and his brother may have worked for McLellan. I do not see any possible family connection with him. 2. Diane Smith
3. Hi Virginia, My name is Diane Minton Smith. I live in Winder, GA. I am researching my mother's side of the family PARIS(PARRIS) / CLINE / NEWTON / SHAW / GOODWIN / KITE . I have several brick walls at this point, but I am still just beginning parts of this.1) Christopher Columbus PARIS (PARRIS) "Lum", b. 1852, m. Amanda Narcissus CLINE, d. 1892 in Bartow Co. and is buried in the Cassville Cemetery. I don't know anything at all about him. Would love to find siblings, parents, anything. I believe he might have been from NC only because I have recent information that Amanda was probably born in Cherokee Co. NC. I had originally thought Cherokee Co, GA because her death certificate just said Cherokee Co and I made an assumption and we all know what that led to. Anyway I recently found her on a census showing that she was born in NC., so I suspect that is where she met and married "Lum". I don't know when the family moved to GA. Amanda's mother Polly Ann NEWTON CLINE was! living with one of her siblings in Emerson, GA and she and several or her children are buried in Emerson Cemetery. 2) John Leonard SHAW, b. abt. 1852 (1880 census Kingston, GA shows him to be 24 yrs old.) , m. 1) Freda ? 2)Mary Thenie GOODWIN, was killed by a train sometime between Jan and Oct 1890. My grandmother Jennie Leonard SHAW, was born Oct 6 1890 after her father had been killed. I would love to find information on John. I don't even have an idea whether he was run over by a train or was traveling on a train somewhere in the US and it wrecked and he was killed. I have no idea where he is buried. No idea on parents or siblings. My mother had always thought that all of her aunts were her mothers full sisters but the 1880 census told us differently. He and his 1st wife Freda had 3 daughters according to the 1880 census 1) Anna married a HICE and had 13 children 2) Katie Irene married William Daniel PARIS (PARRIS) and had 2 children Ruby & Paul 3) Carey married ! Will Mahaffey and adopted a son, Eugene. John and his 2nd wife Mary Thenie GOODWIN had 4 children 1) Mary married ? had 3 or 4 children and lived in TX, 2) James "Jim" married Mae ? had 4 children Nellie, Benjamin "Bennie", Eula, Mattie, 3) Edward "Ed" married Millie ? had 3 children Ruth, Naomi "Omi", Robert, 4) Jennie Leonard "Lennie" married Samuel Jones PARIS (PARRIS) they had 3 children Mabel Truitt, Charles Wesley, Elsie Loraine. If any of these names connect to anyone out there I would love to hear from you. Diane M.
