Smith, 85, of 314 Masters Drive, husband of Vivian Elrod Smith, died July 12, 2000, at Anderson Area Medical Center. Born in Banks County, Ga., he was a son of the late Lawson A. and Mattie Vaughn Smith. He was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church and a retired employee of Nehi Royal Crown Bottling Co. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Donald M. Smith of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Curtis R. Smith of Greenville; a brother, L.C. Smith of Abbeville; two sisters, Merle Drake of Fair Play and Farrah Jones of Anderson; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 Friday at McDougald Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James E. Dyar. Burial will be in New Silverbrook Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-2 Friday at the funeral home.
