    3. MR. CASH U.S. Army veteran CARNESVILLE - Nelson Cash, 81, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at Lanier Park Hospital, Gainesville, following a short illness. Mr. Cash was born June 20, 1919, in Banks County, a son of the late Elijah and Nelar Purcell Cash. He served on the Democratic Committee for 16 years, and was the Justice of Peace for 16 years. Mr. Cash was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. At the age of 17, he began work as a poultry farmer, retiring after 64 years. Mr. Cash was a member of Damascus Baptist Church and a member of the Georgia Poultry Federation. He was the last member of his immediate family. Funeral services were held Friday, December 29, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Roy Rogers, Warren Wilkinson and the Rev. Loyd Martin officiating. Burial was in the Damascus Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Cash is survived by his wife, Emily Stowe Cash, Carnesville; three daughters, Ann Cash Rooks, Flovilla, June Cash Collins, Cleveland, and Bonnie Cash Meeler, Maysville; one son, Nelson Loyd Cash Jr., Commerce; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to The Gideons International, c/o Habersham South Gideons, P.O. Box 195, Baldwin, GA 30511.
