Anyway, my thanks to the admin team for their fast reaction, I will now leave Banks County and return to Reading in the County of Royal Berkshire in England in the UK :) David

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Aa.2ADI/740.1 Message Board Post: Ooooops - I forgot, as soon as I posted this in Boards>Localities>North America>United States>Georgia>Counties>Banks it would also appear in the Mailing List for the Surnames>Banks mailing list - silly me. So, to put the record straight, the former seems to be for any surname in the county of Banks in Georgia and the latter is a worldwide Message Board for the surname Banks. The admin people at Rootsweb have confirmed that there is a 'crossed wire' and they will correct the situation soon. So then I can get back to being a Banks and the population of Banks County won't have to change their surname :) David Banks

    3. Hi, I have a lot of GA death certificates. It really depends on the informant as to the personal information on the death certificate. It has a place for the names of the Mother, Father, and spouse. It even has a space for where the Mother and Father's birthplace. The information is worth the money for all the info you get. Just remember it is only as good as the person's knowledge that is giving the info. Happy Hunting this Thanksgiving Day. 3. The History of Franklin County, Georgia, has an article on the Hooper family. It says: "Richard Brooks Hooper, b. May 1756, son of Obediah Hooper, (b. ca. 1720 in Va., d. 4-16-1803 Franklin Co.) and Massilva Brooks of Va., was an early settler of northwest Franklin Co. and served with his father in the Revolutionary War. Richard m. 1st Mrs. Elizabeth Adams Word (Little), widow of Charles Word, Jr., 2nd Andonea Mason (Miller), no children. (Elizabeth's dau., Millie Word, m. Richard's brother, Matthew Hooper.) Richard is bur. in the Miller graveyard near Prospect Church. 1790 S.C. census listed him with 3 sons under 16, 4 females, including wife and 2 daughters, and 5slaves. Children of Richard and Elizabeth are Matthew Brooks, Nancy, Obediah, John, Susannah, Jesse Carter, James Adams, and Amelia M." If you want the rest of the lineage in this book, please let me know.
