My info shows he was born in 1821. I show him as having 3 sons and 4 daughters. I havn't been able to go any further back than him. There is a possibility that he was a Ball before his name was changed to Hill. This is what some of some of my older cousins say that our Grandmother told them. My Grandfather was also named William Crofford Hill. I have a lot of info on him. I will be happy to share info with you.

    1. [GABANKS] Need help and advice in family search for Wansleys and Mckays
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Aa.2ADI/753 Message Board Post: I would greatly appreciate everyones help and advice on finding my grandmother. Her name was Roberta Mckay and I can find nothing on her, anywhere! She was the second wife of Benjamin Wansley. I don't know her exact birthdate, but I'm told she died in Harris county Georgia. I've not found her in any birth or death index online, I have no clue when or where she was married and have had no success with any database searches thusfar. My father has few memories of her because he was very young when she died. Of seven brothers and sisters, there are two sisters left living, neither of them will retrun my calls or respond to letters regarding Roberta or any other family information. I've heard so many things about the Wansley family, all of whom where born in or near Banks County Georgia, with the first marriage to Emma Curry, and in or around Milstead Alabama with the second marriage to Roberta Mckay. Benjamin settled in the Mongomery area which were he died in 1938. I've found Benjiman on the 1900 Franklin County Georgia Census, but have never found him on any others. Roberta is listed on his death certificate, but that's all. I called the funeral home listed on the death certificate, but dispite being named the funeral home listed they claim to have no record of providing funeral arrangements. I'm extremely frustrated and at a loss at what to do or where to search next. Please help me with my search or suggest where I can search next for Roberta. Thank you! Phoebe Wansley Scalf
