Mother, Polly, subsequently married William Ellis, minister and land owner in Baldwin County in 1809. Other children by James' father were Francis Lennard, Susan Lennard Dubose and Nancy Lennard Smith. Polly and William Ellis had six children. James and Francis married sisters, Mary (1823) and Unity Dean in Baldwin County .
