We've often talked about how our families moved to various locations.....NOW there is a place for everyone to submit these migrations! The Migrations project at http://www.migrations.org I just briefly visited it and wanted you to urge you to get your materials together and post on the site. Visit the "post data" site and look around to see what you need. Basically it is this: 1)Name 2)Year born 3)Year died **can leave these blank or estimate 4)Where born Town/county State Then you get to the migration part. You've already listed the place of birth.... 5)so the next step is the 1st move the family made. (Instructions are very clear... so take a few minutes to read them carefully) 6)Additional information You can add some special notes if you know other members of the family that moved at the same time. Since there are lots of spaces, you can provide all the movement for that individual until he dies. Then start out with another individual and move that family. It should be lots of fun! On the front page, you can click on the State, i.e. Georgia....but the Georgia page isn't on-line yet. When it does come on, then you'll see in alphabetical order all those who have posted. In the meantime, you can post your materials from the FRONT page, and then when the Georgia page is on-line, all of it will appear. It should be interesting to do "searches" to see other families that came to the same area at the same time from the same place!! Our county pages will be able to link , but just thought you might beinterested in taking a look at this in the meantime! Go get your dates, and names together....and start posting. If you have ANY questions, just ask. I know lots of you haven't posted much before, but it really isn't that difficult. It's like anything.....very confusing the first time you post something on-line, but then it gets easy.... Virginia

I am new to this list and desperately need help. My grandfather died in Milledgeville State Hospital August 6, 1958. I have a copy of his death certificate and it says his body was "removed" from the hospital to Emory University. I am looking for any kind of obituary or death notice. His name was Rupert Boysworth. My father was always told his father died when he was a child and that turned out not to be true. I am trying to find any kind of information to see if any survivors are listed. I also do not know if his body was donated to Emory or if he is buried there. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!! This man has been a brick wall for years!!! Thank you to any one who can help. Beth N. Augusta, SC
ANNOUNCEMENT http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ has been updated! Includes info for all the United States except original colonies (13 states!) A must see!
Susan Ann MILLER was born in Milledgeville,GA, in 1826, but I can't find hide nor hair of any documentation for this; the information is listed on her son's death certificate. Her parents are, perhaps, Martin and Elizabeth Berry Miller, but this is also undocumented. I do know that Susan Ann married Reuben BULLARD, from Fredericksburg, VA, in 1841 Helena, ARK, with the permission of her (unnamed) guardian.....now, why a girl from GA married a boy from VA in ARK is beyond me! Susan Ann and Reuben ended up in Wheeling (W)VA, where they settled permanently, and he established the Bullard Printing company. Family lore says that Susan's father, realizing that war was coming, sold his extensive lands in GA and was on his way to (W)VA with the proceeds of the sale, when he was murdered by his secretary, somewhere in KY...they were travelling by river boat. ANY help with Susan Ann would be so appreciated....I've about given up on her!!! Sandra Ferguson

Just got this information that these Baldwin Cemeteries are on-line. This came through on the Oglethorpe List....so let's take up the challenge. They have 39 "way more than any other GA county. "....so they say. Well, let's see if we can't give them a run for their money! I've also included the tips that Jeanne provided. From: "Ernie/Jeanne Arguelles" <ejarguelles@msn.com> To: GAOGLETH-L@rootsweb.com Well, there's no doubt about it... Oglethorpe County *rules* when it comes to researcher contributions! There are currently 39 wills posted on the Oglethorpe GenConnect Will Board, which is way more than any other GA county. Thank you to all who have taken the time to share these valuable documents. To keep this trend going, I'd like to hold a "Will Drive" -- if you've got an Oglethorpe Co will (or other probate document), let's get it online so we can help our fellow researchers and keep those cousins a-callin'! The Will Board is located at: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/JonesWill http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/TaylorWill http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/BibbWill http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/UpsonWill http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/BaldwinWill A couple helpful hints for posting wills: 1) If you've already got the document transcribed in your computer, you can post it very quickly with the "copy & paste" method. (If you need help with this, just let me know). 2) Capitalizing SURNAMES will make it easier for readers to spot the names they're looking for. 3) Include source info (book & page number) if you have it. 4) In the "Subject" space, include name & date (John Smith - 1825). 5) In the "Surname List" space, list only those surnames (and not first names)that appear in the document (not all the names you're researching). Put them one under the other. Smith Jones Edwards The national search engine will pull up these names, and searchers will expect to see the name in the document. Virginia

Has the Georgia Argus Newspaper dates from 1810 thru 1815 been microfilmed? If so, where are they housed and are they available on interlibrary loan? Are they at the Vinson Library in Milledgeville? Also, has anyone been an angel and extracted them for genealogical data? My requests posted on the Baldwin Co. page are being bounced back to me. Thanks to you who are taking time from the holidays to continue genealogy interests and projects. Poldi
I found on page 259 of History of Baldwin County Georgia by Anna Maria Green Cook published 1925; reprinted 1978, a marriage which I would like more information about. The bride was Susan Langford and the groom John Etheridge in Baldwin Co. Court House Book "A". I would like to know who were the parents, who supplied the bond and who performed the marriage. Does anyone have access to this book of marriages? I haven't found it copied by the FHL although I could have missed it while searching their catalog of microfilm. Do not know if this lady was related to Edmond/Edward Langford who won land in the 1805 lottery in Baldwin Co. Found another Susannah Etheridge later in Mobile Alabama alone. Could have been a widow and the same lady. If anyone could assist me with this question I will be very thankful and indebted to do a lookup in return in the material at the Dallas Library. Good collection. Poldi
Hello all This is a first time request: I am looking for the surname MAHATHY specifically Clara Lee Mahathy. Thanks for your time Aubrey McDonald Chas.,SC. amcdonald@viperlink.net
Hooray and welcome new owner! My genning interests are not major ones in this county, but my memories are! I spent two of the best years of my life at GA College (Sept '72-August '74), so it is near and dear to my heart... My husband's grandmother Sadie Daniel Hooker was from Baldwin Co., and I only have names for her family...not many dates to go with them. At this time, though, I am interested in securing enough info about the former site of Oglethorpe University and the cemetery on the site or nearby. I would like to know where I can find info about the Sherwoods that are interred there. Can anyone help? I am new to the Baldwin Co. List. I am searching for the surname SOLOMON. Anyone connected to the Lazarus SOLOMON family and we haven't been in contact before please email me. Thanks, Rose
I picked this up from another GA list and wanted to pass it along. http://vax1.vigo.lib.in.us/~jmounts/cendates.htm The title is "Chart Used to Calculate The Year of Birth From the Census". You just follow down the chart for the age and across to the Census Year and bingo....you have their birth year! It will save lots of subtracting for those of us who aren't math wizards! Print it off to take to the library or keep it handy on your desk. Mine printed off just fine, but I also heard that if you have your font set TOO large it may not line up. If this happens try, temporarily decreasing the font on your Browser. Virginia
