I'm still hoping to hear from one of you about taking the Baldwin County page. Baldwin is one of those "original Lottery counties" so it has lots of history and potential. Eileen Sumner has an excellent basis page. The Queries are all handled automatically and are sent to the Baldwin Mailing List. So anyone who is interested really has a very nice page to begin with. You don't need to live in Baldwin County or even Georgia. As long as you have enthusiasm for researching in Baldwin, and hopefully some personal books and files of your own ancestors, you could certainly be able to do this job via e-mail and the Internet. If you've never done a web page, I'll be glad to work with you. BUT, being able to do a simple page would be a great help and you could get started alot faster. Let me hear from you, if you have any questions... We also have a great West Central Region which is very helpful in sharing information... This came in through the Marion County list....but thought it might help others whose ancestors left Georgia for Texas..... Hi to all, Just wanted to share with you in case you haven't tried this. In my search of Birth records for TX I have found if you enter mothers maiden Name only in the search field you will find who she married and the children she had. Works great for the Female side when you don't know who she might have married. I found an uncle's children in here from 4 different mothers. I only knew of 3 of the mothers. Also found my mother's half aunt and half uncle by using this index. Just thought I would share. Try it. Leave all fields blank except for mothers maiden surname. Believe Philip D. Logan's father was Philip Logan, Rev. War soldier, but have not been able to make the connection. Philip died in Baldwin Co. in 1820. Philip D. Logan enlisted in the War of 1812 in October 1812 at Milledgeville. Looking for any information anyone might have that would connect the two. Also, the orphans of Hugh Logan of Baldwin Co. received a land grant in 1820. Believe there may be a connection between Hugh and Philip and/or Philip D. also. Names of parents, spouses, children, siblings, anything would be appreciated. Thanks, Arnold Logan dslogan@home.com

Eileen Sumner has been the County Coordinator for Baldwin County for some time now. She has worked hard to gather material for the page. Unfortunately she is giving up the position and page. If there is anyone on the Baldwin List who is interested in doing this, please write to me. The person needs to be able to create web pages in HTML (or with HTML software). The main thing though is to have a sincere interest in research in Baldwin County. The Query system is automatic as you know. Marcelle Bridgeman is managing the Baldwin County Mailing List. I'll be happy to answer any questions that you have and work along side you as you begin. Virginia Crilley Regional Coordinator - West Central Region GAGenWeb
