Sorry; I have no resources for Baldwin County but do appreciate those who having doing lookups. Thanks, Diane Thompson Dixon
Could someone do a lookup for 1850 and 1860 census. Patrick Cotter and Elizabeth sons James W. Cotter, John(Jack), William(Billy) Mary. William b. 1849 James b, 1853 John b. 1854 Thank you Pat in Michigan
I have the 1850 Baldwin Co. Census and will be happy to do lookups for people. I also have "The History of Baldwin County, Georgia" by Mrs. Anna Maria Green Cook, c1925. This edition has an index so I will also do lookups from it. Please only one or two names at a time and the time period before 1925. I have posted these resources before but am doing it again because we seem to have many new people on the list. Mary Ann Willoughby Greensboro, NC

Many of you have written, asking me to look up your ancestors in the book I have, which I have gladly done, but I don't remember anyone posting a book or CD they have, that they will help others with. I can't believe that I am the only one on the list that has anything on Baldwin county.....the only way this hobby works is if we ALL do our part.....we need to be willing to help, in the same way we ask others to help us!
I recently found this book, THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, ATHENS, GEORGIA, (details listed below) with Cicero Holt information and plan to order it. I hope it is still in print! Is anyone on this list researching the Holt family? And what about Rev.Hope Hull? Laura Freeman Mills lfmills@ucdavis.edu THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, ATHENS, GEORGIA #162 By John P. Virginia has suggested that we use the Reply to All choice, rather than the Reply to Author (they are next to each other, in your email selections, at the top of the screen .....in this way, the email we send will go to everyone on the list. When you choose Reply to Author, your email goes ONLY to the individual who sent the email....the only difference to you will be which selection you make. I believe that all will have this choice......any questions? If so, send them to the list, and perhaps someone will be able to help. I've not had actual experience with Baldwin, but do know that records are kept for this sort of thing under Administrator and Guardian Bonds. This involves estates when there was no will (thus an Administrator), but also Bonds ($$) had to be posted whenever a Guardian was appointd for orphan children. That is why the two of them are together. Maybe someone else can tell us if these have ever been published in a Quarterly or not.... Here's the LDS film for them: Guardians bonds 1830-1963 FHL US/CAN Film 415170 They probably also have an Archives film on them for Baldwin County. If someone would order the film and transcribe a few extra pages, that would be wonderful!! The Baldwin List is set so that a "reply" goes just to the individual. I know that some lists do have it to "reply" to the list, but I have encountered many, many embarrassing situations where in haste someone responds to a note , and meant for it to be private to the individual who sent it, and instead it goes to the List for all to read. I keep the Baldwin address in my Address book, and then just quickly click on it in addition to the "reply" individual, and that way it will go to everyone through the list, but right away to the individual I'm answering. >Laura, this query should be addressed to the list, in the hopes that others >may be of help. >Sandra Sandra and others, There is something funny about the way I am receiving the Baldwin Co list queries. Please look at the format. Reply-To: "Sandra Ferguson" <ferg@intelos.net> From: "Sandra Ferguson" <ferg@intelos.net> To: "Laura F. Mills" <lfmills@ucdavis.edu> Cc: <GABQALDWI-L@rootsweb.com> The reason my letters and perhaps others are going to you (Sandra) is that your address is in the "reply to" section (see above). I would guess that after reading a query most people simply hit "reply" and then type in their response. That is what I did. Sorry for the inconvience. What if <GABQALDWI-L@rootsweb.com> was the "reply to" default setting? Then all of our letters would be posted directly to the list and if we want to send private letters we can get the individaul's e-mail off "from". My Susan Ann married at 15 (poor little thing), and had to be signed for by a guardian, whose name is, of course, not included. I have had no experience with guardianship, and hope someone else has....would guardianship papers be on record at the county level? If so, where would they be? Sandra
Can anyone tell me if there or any records on burials at the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge? How can I contact someone regarding that area? thanks pat
If anyone has any info on EVANS please let me know. I am stuck at OBEDIAH EVANS b abt 1817. Married Martha Ann __?__ had the following children: RUFUS b abt 1859 JAMES b abt 1843 KEIR JACKSON b abt 1844/45 MARY ANN M. b abt 1848 SARAH A.E. b abt 1851 ISAAC b abt 1853 JOSIAH D. b abt 1855 They are last showing on the 1860 census for Twiggs county ga. however I know that descendants of RUFUS (my ggrandfather) lived in jones and baldwin co. RUFUS had a son named OZIE FREEMAN EVANS who married NORA CORLILLAH BATCHELOR in Baldwin county. I would like to know who the father of OBEDIAH EVANS was and also what happened to RUFUS EVANS. Family says he may have been killed in a sawmill or may have been incarcerated. Any info on the EVANS from the 1800's would be helpful. Also looking for a place called Cedar Ridge? Some of my EVANS are supposedly buried there. (NOTE: this is not the Cedar Ridge cemetery in Bibb or Jones Counties - already checked those :) ) thanks pat
I am searching for information for a H.F. McCoy, 1858-1931 and Eliza Brown McCoy, 1865-1929 who are buried in Milledgeville. Believe they may be connected to Eula Snyder who was a McCoy before her marriage to Clayton Meeks and later to a Snyder. If you can help in any way, please respond. I know they have roots in Baldwin County. Also does anyone have an idea as how someone who was deserted by her husband would have had the marriage ended. This was back in 1913. Any help appreciated.
