I am also new to this list and seek help with the Central State Hosptial in Milledgeville. Until today it was always just State Hospital to me. The privacy law does not apply for my question since the great uncle I am looking for died in 1907. Do any of you in Baldwin Co know how one finds the records associated with the hospital. Also, have the cemeteries in Baldwin Co been surveyed? I am looking for BENJAMIN FRANKLIN WARR who died in the state hospital in "late fall 1907" according to his widow's GA pesion application for a Civil War pension. I would appreciate any help and suggestions. Judy Webb, Iowa Park, TX
I may be wrong, but I think the Privacy Act will prevent you from getting any information until 75 years have passed. So the court order may be your only avenue. ----- Original Message ----- From: Thelma Smith <N2chtwo@aol.com> To: <GABALDWI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 23, 2000 6:32 PM Subject: [GABALDWI] COOPER > Posted on: Baldwin Co. Posted on: Baldwin Co. Ga Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Baldwin/130 Surname: ROBINSON, LANDERS, COOK, ROGERS, BLIZZARD, PROSSER, WOOD, WELLS, JOHNSON, STURBRIDGE, HARRELL ------------------------- I have been researching the Robinsons of middle GA for nearly 40 years now. I seem to find everybody else's ancestors but mine! These are some Bible records that I found at GA Archives years ago. I do not believe this is my Robinson family. My ancestor is William Osmus Robinson b. 1825 in Morgan Co, GA. Would appreciate any help in locating his parents and siblings! Here is what I found on the John Robinson family of Baldwin County GA. He was living in Warren Co, GA at the time he drew in the 1805 GA Land Lottery. Both he and his wife Juriah or Jeriah (Landers) died in Baldwin County. John died in 1826; Jeriah died in 1853. This is the Bible Record for the John Robinson family as turned in to the DAR in 1936. It is notarized and the contributor was Bertie B. Sturbridge. John Robinson b. 6 May 1756; Jeriah Robinson b. 29 August 1769; John Robinson m. Jeriah on 27 March 1788. (Does not mention Jeriah's maiden name here, but it is mentioned in other records.) Their children: Solomon Robinson b. 1 April 1789; John Robinson b. 4 August 1792; Salley Robinson b. 3 August 1794; Luke Robinson b. 20 March 1797; William Robinson b. 9 February 1798; Mariah Robinson b. 3 April 1801. The father John R. Robinson was a Revolutionary War Soldier. I found another Bible record which I believe to be that of the son William Robinson mentioned above. This Bible record was turned in to the DAR in 1939 by Mrs. Guy Wells. In 1939 the Bible was in the possession of Mrs. Marie Roberts Johnson of Atlanta. This is the way the Bible reads: MARRIAGES: William Robinson and Penelope Taylor were married the 4th day of March 1819. (There is a notation that there is a court house record dated 28 Feb 1823). Then, William Robinson was married to Elizabeth Cook on October the first, 1865. W.F. Rogers was married to Mary, his wife, 20 May 1838. BIRTHS: Nancy A.M. Robinson was born 6th of May 1832; Martha S. Robinson was born 6th of March 1830; Mary Blizzard was born 29th of July 1836; Clarissa Eleanor Robinson was born 7th July 1825; Martha Susan Robinson was born March 6th 1830;William Robinson was born Feb 12th 1799; Mary Robinson was born Dec 29th 1819; John Landers Robinson was born Feb 25th 1821; James Thomas Robinson was b. 10th Sept 1822; David Brady Robinson was b. Feb 1824; Joshua Robinson, son of David and Sarah Robinson was born 10th of August 1832; John Robinson was born 5th of May 1751.(Note: this differs from the date in John's bible) Jeriah Robinson was born 19th of August 1767 (Note: this differs from date in the John Robinson Bible); Thomas C. Prosser was born 6th Dec 1875; Robert F. Prosser was born the 11th of Sept 1877; James T. Prosser was born 27th July 1880; DEATHS: William Robinson departed this life Aug 24th 1835; Juriah Robinson departed this life Oct 6th 1853; Clarissa Eleanor departed this life 1832, 29th of Sept 1858; John Robinson departed this life 1832, 18th of Dec; David Robinson departed this life 1835; John Landers Robinson departed this life July 8th 1859; David B. Robinson departed this life April 8th in the year of our Lord 1864. Penelope Robinson departed this life April 10th 1864. William Robinson died at home January 3, 1876, age 77. Augustus M. Wood was killed in the Battle of Atlanta July 22 in the year of our Lord 1864. The Mrs. Guy Wells who turned in the Bible record to the DAR appears to be living in Milledgeville, GA in 1939. I hope this information will help someone to find their Robinson ancestors. Please let me know if you ever see my William Osmus Robinson anywhere!

I am searching for information on Lewis STEPHENS who died in Autauga Co, AL in 1827 leaving a widow Mary & 2 children: Louisa & John. The widow obviously died very shortly after Lewis STEPHENS. Executor Joseph COLLINS was given custody of the children. Witnesses were: William WHITE & Thomas WILLIAMS. Estate papers mention having to spend money to send someone to Georgia. Georgia records yield a 3 June 1819 marriage of Lewis STEPHENS to Mary WILLIAMS in Baldwin Co, GA. Purchasers from the Autauga Co, AL estate include the following CRENSHAW men: James, Abraham & Robert. J ? CRENSHAW (2nd initial hard to decipher, could be S) was later paid $32.42 1/2 from the estate for "doing work". Another accounting of the estate shows money owed to & from Abraham CRENSHAW. Other 1828 purchasers, in addition to the CRENSHAW men, include: Lewis ALDRIDGE, Wm HIGHTOWER, Thos. WILLIAMS, Joseph COLLINS, Caleb ETHERIDGE, George SHADIVICH (??), Oratio CHAMBLIS, Reuben ALDRIDGE, James GRANT, Thomas HESTER, Timothy HOLLY, T. L. RODGERS, James WILLIAMS. Does anyone have any information concerning the relationship of these two families. Any information on any of the above families would be greatly appreciated.
