    2. Larry Spires
    3. On the 1920 Coffee County Census, Riley Bailey was living in house with Warren Spires. Riley Bailey was age, 70, with wife, Amanda, age, 50, and son, Leonard, age, 17. In the 1930 Census of Coffee County I cannot find him. So he must have died somewhere between 1920 and 1930. I was told by my grandmother that he is buried over at Deberry Baptist Church Cemetery in an unmarked grave next to his wife Amanda "Bryant" Bailey. The only name I know him by is "Riley Bailey", and cannot find him in the Georgia Death Index and the funeral home cannot find his funeral card information. I would like to know how to find out his death date? Does anyone know if Deberry Baptist Church over in Coffee County, Georgia keeps records of the people buried in the cemetery? Larry Spires

    1. RE: [GA-Roots] Looking for information on Mary Garner b abt 1836

    3. Help needed with information about (my 2nd GGM) Mary Garner b abt 1836 in Georgia, married abt 1854 Bryant Perry Kent, who was born about 1835 in Houston Co., GA d 1863 in Richmond, VA (Confederate Hospital -he was a nurse during the Civil War), son of Benjamin and Mary T. (Bailey) Kent. B. P. Kent and Mary are on the 1860 Census in Miller Co., GA. They had five children (four births, one set of twins.) After the death of B. P. Kent, Mary (Garner) Kent married a Bright Waters 10 Jan 1864 in Early Co., GA (marriage records of Early Co., GA, she shown as Mrs. Mary Kent.) My Great Grandmother, Carrie, was born in Blakely, Early Co., GA on 7 Oct 1869, one of female twins. Both parents died before Carrie and her twin were a year old. The twins were to be adopted by John E. Tabb and his wife Ellen (Gentry?), but before they could be, her twin died. She was adopted by John & Ellen Tabb and can be found in the 1870 census in Clay Co., GA. After much searching of the 1850 Census of Garner families in GA, the only family I found with a daughter named Mary of the right age (15-16) in 1850 was the David Garner family in Franklin Co., GA. It bothers me though that Franklin is a distance from Miller Co., GA and I've got no other connection so far to this family. I've been unable to locate the marriage record for B. P. Kent and Mary Garner, or I would know the county of marriage. Bryant P. Kent was a merchant, so perhaps he traveled, and that is a possibility. All the trees I've searched for the David Garner family do not show a marriage for this Mary, however, she is not among the siblings of that family in the 1860 Census of David Garner in Franklin Co., GA. Any help will be appreciated. I would really like to learn more about this family, as they are close kin. God bless. Carolyn, just an old Texas Gal. Life is like pouring water into a Coke bottle.  If you're the least bit scared, you can't do it.   Researching: Knight/Byles/Walton/Espy/Smith/Little/Marshall/ Waters/Garner/Martin/Foote/Berryman/Colclough/ Rogers/Grigsby/Blanton/Tate/McGuffey/Hobbs/ Schuenemann/Latinsky/Altman/Gambel/Sinz & Gross WebSite:  http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cgetting/ WebSite: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cgetting/familygroups/

    3. fyi...if you are searching georgia deaths at ancestry.com - you have to put last name as first name & first name as last name...they have this data indexed in reverse at the initial search...i tried to find your "riley bailey" - no luck...i suspect that he may be under another given name and/or surname is misspelled in data base...you could search all the listings for "bailey" from 1919 - 1930...do not specify county name - he may have died in another county...have you gotten copies of death certificates on any other family members?? if not - those might show the full name of "riley" or another variation of the spelling... Name: Amanda B Bailey Death Date: 12 Jan 1944 County of Death: Coffee Gender: F Race: W Age: 82 years Certificate: 4895 Name: Leonard Bailey Death Date: 03 Sep 1972 County of Death: Coffee Gender: M Race: W Age: 66 years County of Residence: Coffee Certificate: 039260 i will keep looking to see if i can flush out a different name used by "riley" on census records prior to 1920... good luck! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Spires" <gaspires@bellsouth.net> To: <GA-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 22, 2004 11:10 PM Subject: [GA-Roots] Brick Wall That I Have Run Into Over In Coffee County, Georgia On the 1920 Coffee County Census, Riley Bailey was living in house with Warren Spires.
