Sandy, In Decatur County, Georgia, there was a "Marks & Brands" book. I have been told that men frequently registered their brand soon after arriving in an area. Unfortunately, the book in Decatur County was "missing" when last we asked to see it. In some counties the book may be found in the county clerk's office and in others in the Probate Judge's office. And some counties have none. It is likely that a man (or his son) would use the same brand in Georgia and SC or NC, if possible. The marks and brands book in Jefferson County, Florida, has some marriages recorded in the back.
