I don't know about North GA, but here in rural MN burials sometimes are several months after the death. The reason is that the ground is frozen like concrete to a depth of about six feet. It is a lot simpler to keep the deceased in a frozen state and bury the deceased after the ground thaws. This is just a guess-- maybe in the North GA mountains, the frozen ground is similar to the situation in MN. Gus
