    3. We're so delighted that we have a few more 1836 Creek War Rosters on-line! Upson and Marion Counties-- specifically are new ones. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/military/indian.htm There is a search engine on that page, so you can search just Creek War rosters.... but remember that spelling was not always accurate, so you may need to try various ways. I was at the library yesterday consulting Virgil White's Index to Indian Wars....and found so many variations listed in his book from the names on the rosters we're using. I feel sure that he used a "common" spelling of most of these. Blalock - Blaylock that sort of thing. We're trying to locate burials for all of these men -- so many left GA. Hopefully some descendants will send to the National Archives for the military record. Ask for military record/bounty land/pension The bounty land was NOT in Georgia, and most recipients probably did not actually move to the states of Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, but instead sold their warrants. I'm sure there were professional firms who just dealt with processing these warrants for those unable to do it for themselves. Federal Law September 28, 1850 included a provision of land for those who had served in various Indian conflicts. There are 9 volumes in the Georgia State Archives about these Military years.... WPA project. So if you don't find your name, and are going to the Archives, I understand the book is well indexed. And we'd love to have you type up some pages and put them on-line. We've barely touched the surface on what is there! Virginia
