In WFT there are only seventy-two people with the name of Seaborn Jones. Most of the people with that name are from Georgia a few from Oklahoma and a few from Tennessee and Alabama. My gg grandfather was named Seaborn Jones Shy and I know of no Jones in the family so I have to assume that he was named for a man named Seaborn Jones. Through Greene County Roots I find that there are others named for a Seaborn Jones. My thinking is that since the first Seaborn Jones given names appeared between 1795 and 1805 that a Seaborn Jones might have been some type of locally famous Revolutionary soldier. I have found that there is a man by that name buried in St. Pauls Cemetery in Augusta who served in the war. Does anyone have any knowledge of this or any other Seaborn Jones that so many people could have been named for.
