Looking for descendants/relatives of JOSEPH (JOEL) FOWLER, b. abt 1861 in GA, who moved to Bowdon, Carroll Co., GA from Hightower, Cleburne Co., AL, and lived there with his second wife, ELLEN TWEDELL or TWEEDLE. Joel and Ellen are said to be buried in the Bowdon City Cemetery. Joel is the son of JOHN O. FOWLER (b. abt 1826, d. aft 1873) and SARAH ANN NORRIS FOWLER, of Gwinnett and Campbell counties in GA. Joel, is found in the 1870 Campbell County census, Fairburn District, age 9, living with his parents and older siblings GEORGE WILSON FOWLER, b. 1852 and MOLLIE (Mary Kate) FOWLER, b. 1854. His older siblings were married by 1870 and living in Campbell Co. also, Campbellton District. They are: NANCY ELIZABETH FOWLER, b. 1848, m. John Pierce Walker, and WILLIAM J. FOWLER, b. 1849, m. Lula (Lucy) Owen(s). By 1880, Joel is found in the Cleburne Co., AL census, age 18, with his mother, Sarah Ann, a widow. John Fowler apparently died sometime after 1873 (John appears on a Grand Jury list in Fairburn in 1873) and is said to be buried in Campbell Co (now South Fulton). Also in Cleburne in 1880 (they lived in Hightower,AL) were Nancy Elizabeth Fowler Walker and her family, William J. Fowler and his family, George Wilson Fowler and Mary Kate Fowler who married A.J. "Jack" White. Joel Fowler married (1) Eliza Ballenger sometime before 1882, and they had a daughter who died in infancy. She is buried in Ranburne. Eliza died in 1894 and Joel remarried (2) Ellen Twedell or Tweedle. All of the above are buried in the Ranburne First Baptist Church cemetery except John Fowler, his son Joel Fowler, and Joel's 2nd wife Ellen. I do not know whether Joel and Eliza had any more children. Joel's older brother, William J. Fowler, is my great-grandfather.
