    1. [GA-Roots] FL & GA state line
    2. Please excuse the multiple messages. I need info regarding the Florida & Georgia state line. I know it moved around from time to time over a period of many, many years before it was finally settled. I am researching in Gadsden Co, FL and Decatur Co, FL. It would be helpful to know more about where and when the state line was located. For instance, I know a person could have been born in what we now know as Florida, but at the time of their birth, it was known as Georgia. If anyone has any info on this or can tell me where to find some, I would really appreciate it. Thanks! 3. Some info on FL Counties: Gadsden Co. was created in 1823 from part of Jackson Co. established in 1822 from Escambia Co. created in 1822 as one of the two original counties. The other original county was St. Johns, also created in 1822 when FL became a Territory. GA. Counties: Decatur Co. was established in 1823 from part of Early Co. that was formed in 1818 from Creek Indian Lands. This is from "The Handy Book for Genealogists". Hope this will help you some.
