Hope that someone, among you, can tell me where I may purchase census reports for: Bryan County - 1840, 1850 and 1860 and Effingham County - 1840 and 1860. I seem to be running out of possibilities and would appreciate any leads. Thank you A few, of my families: Badgerworthe/Badger, Baratte/Barratt, Bell, Bernardy, Bird, Brack, Brogdon, Conaway, Deal/Diehl, DeLoach, DesClaux, Downs, Eastwood, Elarbee/Ellerbee, Hahnbaum, Jones, Kieffer, Lightbourne, McConachy, Miller, Murrow, Nessmith/NeSmith, Pate, Smith, Stafford, Stewart, Sweet, Zetterower/Zittrauer
The Statesboro Library has these census records or I should say they have some of them. I do not remember the prices. You can find many of the early censuses from s-k publications (www.skpub.com). Two other good sources are www.heritagequest.com and www.allcensus.com. s-k publications and allcensus both have tif files that you view with your regular pc viewer, or they also include a viewer on the cd. s-k pub puts one county, one census per cd. Allcensus generally does the same, but has some cd's that are multiple years for the same county. Heritage quest does theirs by microfilm roll, so you might get 2 or 3 counties on a cd. Heritage quest has the easiest (fastest) viewer to use, but does not always take as much trouble over the image quality. Heritage quest also charges the same, regardless of quality. Allcensus charges less for the damaged or hard-to-read images. ----- Original Message ----- From: <TYBEETIDE@aol.com> To: <GA-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 06, 2000 5:33 PM Subject: [GA-Roots] U.S. Census > Hope that someone, among you, can tell me where I may purchase census reports > for: Bryan County - 1840, 1850 and 1860 and Effingham County - 1840 and > 1860. > I seem to be running out of possibilities and would appreciate any leads. > Thank you > > A few, of my families: > Badgerworthe/Badger, Baratte/Barratt, Bell, Bernardy, Bird, Brack, > Brogdon, Conaway, Deal/Diehl, DeLoach, DesClaux, Downs, Eastwood, > Elarbee/Ellerbee, Hahnbaum, Jones, Kieffer, Lightbourne, McConachy, > Miller, Murrow, Nessmith/NeSmith, Pate, Smith, Stafford, Stewart, > Sweet, Zetterower/Zittrauer >
