    1. [GA-Roots] CSA Gravemarkers
    2. Hi -- I am trying to find out information regarding the CSA markers that are part of the gravesites of many of the CSA veterans buried in Georgia. (1) Who placed them at the gravesites? The UDC? The St of GA? Family members? (2) How was it determined who's graves these markers were placed at? (3) Is the paperwork (if any required) on file somewhere and available? Thank you in advance to anyone that can help me out with this. Sincerely, Valerie (Johnson) Freeman Santa Ana, California Researching: Nixon in GA/AL Lochbaum/Laughbaum in PA/OH Cherry in MD/PA/OH/IA/NE

    3. Hello Valerie, You can order the markers at no charge if your soldier's grave does not have a marker. My husband recently ordered one for his gg-grandfather William Jasper Wright who served in the 38th Alabama Inf. Co H, he did not even get to see it placed. We hope to go see it soon. A very kind SCV camp in Alabama placed the stone for him. I believe that you can request the forms from the SCV. There IS a form you have to fill out. I will have to ask my husband where he got this and can get back to you later, unless someone else out there knows and can tell you now. My local Veteran's Administration got a form for my ggg-grandfather but he was a Union man in the 2nd FL Cav, don't know if that makes a difference about what form is filled out. They deliver it where you tell them to. They brought my grandfather's marker to my house. Then I took it and placed it on his grave. Have I made this as clear as mud?
