    3. Hello Georgia, I am researching the STEVENS name for a family tree history. =============================================== -----Are you related to this family of STEVENS : ? =============================================== 1. Merle Carey STEVENS*, b.1895, Alabama -- d.(-?-) (-?-) Merle C. was the [only] son of: 2. George W. STEVENS, b.1859, Alabama -- d.1923, Alabama married Cora Lee (Mickle) STEVENS, b.1859 (?)--d.1945, Oklahoma, and later buried in Roanoke, Alabama George W. was the #3 son of: 3. Wilkins B. STEVENS, b.1802, NC(?) -- d.1873, Alabama Henrietta Hanson-Hill (Pound) STEVENS, b. 1823, Georgia d.1901(?), Hawthorne, FL & buried in Rock Mills, AL. Wilkins' & Henrietta's FOUR sons: #1 William; #2 James and then #3 *George W. and finally #4 Milton S. Their oldest daughter, Amelia Isabella [m.Sharman] was the third child of Wilkins and Henrietta. Their next daughter was the fifth child named Clarissa [m.Wilson]. _____________ *Merle Carey STEVENS had worked in the Macon, GEORGIA area in the early 1920s as a Telegrapher and/or for a Broker or A Brokerage. He married Margaret Colson, 1926, in NY City, a daughter was born in NY City in 1927---and later a son born in 1931 in SC. Merle Carey STEVENS worked in Anderson, SC for a Brokerage and disappeared from there about 1933/34. There was no trace of him after his disappearance in 1933/34 and his disappearance was taken more seriously when he never showed up for his Mother's funeral in Roanoke, Alabama, Jan. 1946. It was, then, that family members presumed him dead afterward, but did not know where or what happened to him. His son ( who was less than 2 years old at the time of Merle's "dis- appearance") recently left a Last Will & Testament that would be very good news to surviving family descendants of Merle Carey STEVENS. [[[ Note: The SSDI shows two Merle (?) Stevens b.1895: died in Amity, PA and the other died in Erie, NY---but neither are the Merle Carey STEVENS that I am searching for---as the middle names are not 'Carey'. ]]] ---------------------------------------------------------------- [ If anyone of the above are related to you, or if you have [ some information to add to what is given here, it is very [ important you contact: [ Janice e-mail : momo7@sover.net ------------------------------------------------------------------ PLEASE NOTE: I am not selling anything and this quest for information is purely for genealogical purposes only. Also, if I have any information that may be useful to you concerning these people, then I will be glad to release/exchange it FREE. And, if anyone claims to be related to these STEVENS, then, I ask for some sort of Proof, the importance of which relates only to Merle Carey STEVENS' son's Last Will & Testament. We can discuss those aspects at a later and proper time. I apologize for being particular, but I feel I should enforce some shell of "privacy" for the Living--and those who care. ------Janice momo7@sover.net ============================================
