    3. The Community of Slaughterville is not a town at all, but a rural community. The CSX Railroad, which traverses the community has a siding which is clearly marked with a sign "SLAUGHTERVILLE". I would presume that at some point the community had its own post office, as was the practice in by-gone times. The community is located on Hwy. 82 between Waycross and Hoboken, Ga. I am uncertain as to whether it is in Ware County, or in Brantley County. My recollection is that it is located at or near the boundary between the two counties. Waycross is the nearest city, and I would expect has a local Historical Society. You might contact the local newspaper (Waycross Journal Herald)at (912) 283-2244 ask them for info on how to contact the local Historical Society. If you fail to make a local contact in the area, let me know and I will see if I can help get you in touch with someone who has knowledge of local history. I lived and worked in this area for almost 20 years, and still have contacts there. Vernon Holt ----- Original Message ----- From: D.
