Hello list, I need your help with my White Family lines. John White was the first in the family to come to American, he settled at Georgia Factory. He went back to Ireland and married Jane Richards and brought her to his home at Georgia Factory. Where in blue blazes is Georgia Factory? I have lived in Georgia all of my life and never heard of it. It must be in the North East part of the state. I am not that familiar with the area. I put the name in search engines and came up with nothing. Thanks for your help. Hi Olivia, Glad to know I am not the only one. It appears John White's son James White was President of the bank in Athens, Georgia. That is why I am thinking it is North East. Don't know if it is relevant to your time frame since you didn't give one, but there were "factories" on the frontier in Georgia which were in effect trading posts. They were federal forts (Wilkinson in Milledgeville, Hawkins in Macon, etc.) which handled supplies for troops and traded with Indians for pelts, etc. My gggg gf Jonathan Halstead was "factor" or manager of the two above forts' factories from 1802 until his death in 1814. This could be your Georgia Factory; then again, it might not be. Good luck, Joe Halstead Tucker, GA ----- Original Message ----- From: Greg And Winnette <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2002 4:54 PM Subject: [GA-Roots] Georgia Factory? > Hello list, > > I need your help with my White Family lines.
