    1. [GA-Roots] Re: Norman
    2. Ok...I was given some letters a few years back. It's the only record of Hiram Norman's parents and siblings. The Norman Family by Thomas Norman Ardmore, Oklahoma the year is 1912. The Norman's are supposed to be of Welsh descent. At an early date, long before the Revolutionary war, three Norman brothers, came to America and settled at or near Wilmington, North Carolina. It is family tradition that from these sprang many descendants and that they were are ancestors of the Norman's in America... When Daniel Boon took his Colony west across the Alleghenies, one of the Norman's, name unknown, accompanied him and settled in what is now Kentucky...This Norman had a number of children, among whom were two boys, named Presley and Daniel Norman. When these boys married is not known...Sometime about 1808, these two boys, now men, Presley and Daniel Norman moved to and settled in Pike County, Mississippi. The following are the children of Presley Norman; 1. Ewing Norman, moved to Arkansas, nothing is known of him. 2. Jim Norman, married, died near Pickens, Mississippi, leaving the following children: 2a. Dixon, 2b. Presley, 2c. Anderson, 2d. Harvey, 2e. Rankin, 2f. Melinda (who married a NEWMAN) and another was killed by a kick from a horse or mule. 3. William Norman, married, and settled in Holmes county, Mississippi, leaving the following children; 3a. William, 3b. Jeff, 3c. Hiram b. 1796, 3d. Frank, and two others, on of whom married Ulysses Clark and with him moved to Texas. note...I don't think the last part is correct, because Hiram had a daughter named Mary, who married a Ulysses Clark, and they moved to Texas. 4. Thomas Norman, born 1788 at or near what is now Lexington, Kentucky, accompanied his father to Pike County, Ms about 1808, where he died in 1834..married twice..first to Sarah Wilson, by whom he had two daughters, Sallie, who married James Moore and settled in Holmes County, Ms., and left a number of descendants, and Rebecca, who married William Strother, moved to California where her descendants are now. Thomas married 2nd, Mary Powell, by whom he had the following children; Amanda, Christopher Rankin, Joseph Franklin and Thomas Presely. 5. Joe Norman died without issue in his 15th year. 6. John Norman, moved to Texas, no further record. 7. Firney Norman, died without issue. 8. Susan Norman married Daniel King, a Baptist preacher, with whom she moved to California, where her descendants now live. 9. Daughter, name unknown, married Green Ramsberry, with whom she moved and settled in Chickasaw, county, Ms. this is the first half...it's rather long...if anyone is interested, or has a connection..please contact me. I'm interested in the Hiram Norman b. 1796...he married Mary Jane Jenny Newman, in 1815, in Marion County, Ms. They lived in Pike and Amite County. May have lived in Franklin, Wilkinson counties, and in Louisiana. also Mary Jane Newman / Norman, remarried in 1827 to John Wilson in Lawrence County. Thanks...Johnie Wilson
